The Guangdong Fujian Guangxi Hainan Agricultural University New Agricultural Science Education Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance"), led by South China Agricultural University and jointly initiated by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Guangxi University, Hainan University, Sun Yat sen University, Guangdong Ocean University, and Zhongkai Agricultural Engineering College, was officially established in Guangzhou on the 25th. It is reported that the alliance brings together 21 higher education institutions, 6 research institutes, and 3 industry leading enterprises, and will focus on promoting five major tasks: first, to build a brand of agricultural education in agricultural universities; second, to explore the establishment of a mechanism that adapts agricultural talent training to economic and social development; third, to implement intelligent reform actions in education and teaching; fourth, to improve the integration mechanism of science, industry, and education; fifth, to deepen international cooperation in agricultural and forestry education. The alliance plans to create a number of high-level ideological and political key courses, establish a number of agricultural artificial intelligence related majors, establish a regional new agricultural talent supply and demand model based on big data analysis, and leverage the role of international scientific and educational cooperation organizations such as the "China Latin America Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance" and the "China ASEAN Agricultural and Forestry Education Industry Education Integration Alliance", striving to form a number of agricultural education reform benchmarks within three years and comprehensively improve the quality of independent training of agricultural and forestry talents. Xue Hongwei, President of South China Agricultural University and Chairman of the Alliance, stated that in the future, the Alliance will deepen cooperation between agricultural universities, research institutes, and industry leading enterprises. Leveraging the geographical advantages of Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, and Hainan, the Alliance will strengthen cooperation among member units in areas such as deep-sea economy, biosafety, and characteristic economic crops, establish a number of science industry education integration practice bases and university enterprise cooperation laboratories, form interdisciplinary teams to tackle tropical and subtropical agricultural technologies, and conduct regional agricultural talent demand forecasting and analysis.
