A teacher's 7-year artistic miracle with "Tang Bao" and "Star Boy"

Every Friday afternoon, joyful music and pure laughter can be heard in the dance classroom on the fifth floor of Hohhot Cultural Center in Inner Mongolia. Here, a group of special students - the "Tang Syndrome" youth (hereinafter referred to as "Tang Bao") and the "Autistic" youth (hereinafter referred to as "Star Children") - form the Heart Youth Art Troupe, diligently practicing their new dance. Since 2018, these children have performed a total of 38 charity shows with over 20000 viewers. The Heart Youth Art Troupe has also established assistance mechanisms with seven local special education schools, becoming a shining symbol of Hohhot's spiritual civilization construction and disability cause. Leading this group of children into the hall of art is Zhou Na, a dance teacher from the Dance Department of Hohhot Cultural Center. For the past 7 years, she has patiently and lovingly infused these winged angels with artistic wings, allowing them to shine brilliantly on stage. Coincidentally, in the autumn of 2018, Zhou Na was commissioned by a friend to rehearse a dance for six "Tang Bao" performers. To be honest, the first class was a failure, and I realized that they might not understand what I was saying, and I didn't know how to adjust their class state, "Zhou Na recalled. I have reviewed a lot of relevant materials and privately communicated with the parents of the children to learn more about their physical condition and acceptance level, and to adjust the content of dance courses in a targeted manner At the same time, children are also working hard for their new life experience: they must arrive early for class and practice basic dance skills with the help of their parents; After returning home, based on the video given by the teacher, I practiced the movements that I couldn't remember over and over again... In the end, with the joint efforts of the teacher, students, and parents, this dance amazed many people after being taken on stage by the children. After her first successful attempt, Zhou Na quickly returned to her work and life, and for these six "Tang Bao", this dance performance seemed to open the door to a new world for them. They still wanted to showcase themselves on stage and under the spotlight. But due to the lack of venues and professional teachers, they can only practice on their own in the square. After learning about this situation, Zhou Na made a bold decision: she wanted to offer specialized dance classes for these children. It's actually difficult to decide to do this, but seeing their love for dance, I find it hard to let go, "Zhou Na said with a smile. The initial difficulties were beyond imagination. A simple hand raising gesture can be mastered by ordinary children in a few minutes, but they need to practice it repeatedly hundreds of times. Some children have difficulty concentrating, some have poor physical coordination, and some may suddenly experience emotional breakdowns due to frustration. I often sweat profusely and my throat is hoarse after a class Zhou Na said, "But every time I see them make even a little progress, the sense of achievement is indescribable." What makes Zhou Na even more gratified is the love that the children have for her: during class, no matter how tired they are, they grit their teeth and persevere; After class, hug the teacher and share your favorite snacks and toys with each other. On them, you will feel the most beautiful emotional feedback. Every Friday, the dance classroom at Hohhot Cultural Center is exclusive to children and a precious gift from the cultural center to them. With a professional training ground and the beloved teacher Zhou among the children, this art troupe has grown rapidly, with members expanding from the initial 6 to the current 27. The visible changes that dance brings to children are evident. At the age of 20, Xiaowei is particularly silent at home and unwilling to communicate with others. In the dance classroom, she not only completes the entire set of dance movements, but also serves as the teacher's "little assistant", helping other students adjust their posture and formation. Even more surprising is that through dance training, children's physical coordination, attention, and social skills have significantly improved. Ms. Liu, the mother of Xiaowei, told reporters, "Teacher Zhou is very good at taking care of children and is very patient. When a child forgets their movements, she always says' do it again '. This positive motivation makes the children more and more confident." With the continuous growth of the Heart Youth Art Troupe, they have also received various performance invitations: community parties, public welfare performances, and even TV program recordings. Almost every performance of "Sending You a Little Red Flower" and "Herdsmen's Anthem" touches the audience below, and as parents of children, watching their children shine on stage, many people cry. Our micro dance drama 'Owl in the Forest' once won the 'Excellent Work Award' at the Inner Mongolia Children's Spring Festival Gala; The original play 'Heart of Pure White' has been nominated for the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Star Award... "Speaking of these achievements, Zhou Na's eyes sparkled with water. Teacher Zhou has been particularly difficult. He has been leading these children through wind and rain for 7 years, and we have done our best to provide them with more help. We hope to give the children more opportunities to showcase themselves on stage Zhang Yanjun, the director of Hohhot Cultural Center, said. Now, under the guidance of Zhou Na, many local philanthropists and companies are sponsoring costumes and props for children's performances. Zhou Na is pleased to say that one person's power is limited, but she now has more companions. (New Society)
