2025-03-28

Recently, the largest diameter shield tunneling machine independently developed by China, the "Cangyuan", was successfully launched and will undertake the left excavation task of the world's longest underwater highway shield tunnel - the Haitai Yangtze River Tunnel project. The sea was formerly known as "Cangyuan". The Haitai Yangtze River Tunnel spans the mouth of the Yangtze River, with a total length of 39.07 kilometers, including 11.185 kilometers of cross river tunnel with a maximum burial depth of over 75 meters. It is planned to be completed in 2028. The excavation diameter of the "Cangyuan" reached 16.66 meters, with a total length of 176 meters and a total weight of over 5650 tons, setting a new record for domestically produced ultra large diameter shield tunneling machines. Mo Kangkang, Chief Mechanical and Electrical Engineer of the Haitai Yangtze River Tunnel Project of CCCC Tunnel Bureau, introduced that after the overall dismantling of the "Cangyuan", it will be transported to the construction site in Haimen, Jiangsu through water and land transportation for assembly and commissioning. It is expected to be put into construction in July this year. (New Society)
