The reporter recently learned from the State Administration for Market Regulation that the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) refrigerator preservation international standard, led by China, has been officially released. This is the world's first international standard for refrigerator preservation performance, providing a scientific and unified technical specification for improving refrigerator preservation performance and filling the international standard gap in this field. Standards assist in the transformation and upgrading of industries. From the perspective of industry development, this international standard specifies two important indicators for measuring the freshness effect of refrigerators: weight loss rate and condensation, providing a unified quantitative indicator for the freshness effect of refrigerators. If the weight loss rate of fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator is too high, some nutrients will also be lost along with the loss of water. High condensation inside the refrigerator can lead to excessive humidity, forming water droplets on the surface of vegetables and accelerating their decay. The condensation test specifies a test method for simulating the severity of condensation on the surface of fruits and vegetables when stored in a refrigerator in a test area with specific temperature, humidity, and air flow conditions. This method measures the degree of condensation generated by the refrigerator by measuring the condensation production on each surface of the test sample within a given time, dividing it into different scores from 0 to 3. The lower the score, the better the anti condensation effect of the refrigerator. In addition, the "wool slice" testing method specified in the standard is an innovative breakthrough that effectively solves the problem of data bias caused by regional differences and different types of ingredients, significantly improving the scientificity and accuracy of the evaluation system. This innovative approach has driven the industry to shift from a single focus on "refrigeration temperature" to a comprehensive evaluation of "freshness preservation effect", providing important guidance for subsequent technology research and product upgrades. For consumers, the implementation of this standard marks the establishment of a unified evaluation system for refrigerator freshness performance in the market. By setting a clear bottom line for product performance, it effectively safeguards consumers' right to information and choice. Consumers can make intuitive comparisons based on the core parameters provided by the standards, avoiding selection bias caused by information asymmetry and making more informed consumption decisions. The release of standards will enhance the user experience for global consumers. The relevant person in charge of the State Administration for Market Regulation introduced that the development of this international standard has brought together experts from 16 countries including New Zealand, Germany, and the United States, held 26 working meetings, conducted over 3000 experimental tests, and jointly promoted the industry's transformation from a technical parameter oriented to a user value oriented approach. With the global promotion and implementation of the IEC refrigerator preservation international standard led by China, it not only leads the global home appliance industry towards higher quality, innovation, and sustainable development, but also makes positive contributions to improving the user experience of global consumers, "said the person in charge.
