The launch ceremony of the 2025 National Household Appliance Consumption Season was held in Shanghai on the 22nd. At the launch ceremony, data released by the Ministry of Commerce showed that, driven by the trade in policy for consumer goods, consumers have purchased nearly 90 million units of trade in home appliances since August 2024. Since the beginning of this year, the policy of exchanging old for new has achieved seamless integration across years. As of now, a total of 20.208 million consumers have purchased 27.572 million units of 12 major categories of household appliances, driving sales of 93.08 billion yuan. At the launch ceremony, the "2024 Development Report on China's Waste Electrical and Electronic Products Recycling and Processing Industry" and the "2025 Household Appliance Consumption Trends" were released. With the strengthening and expansion of the policy of exchanging old appliances for new ones, the trend of "smart" home appliances has become mainstream consumption, and the concept of green consumption is taking shape. Consumers' demand for healthy home appliances is also constantly increasing. Data shows that by 2024, the retail sales of smart products in China's TV, air conditioning, refrigerator, washing machine, and kitchen appliance markets will all exceed 50%. It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce will further coordinate online and offline channels, organize and carry out a series of activities, optimize the "policy+activity" driving mechanism, encourage manufacturers to introduce new products, platforms to offer discounts, and enterprises to offer preferential treatment, amplify the effect of the policy of exchanging old for new home appliances, release the consumption potential of home appliance updates, and make positive contributions to better meeting people's needs for a better life and promoting high-quality economic development. Next, we will further promote the work of exchanging old appliances for new ones in four aspects: optimizing operational processes, strengthening risk prevention, ensuring fairness and justice, and improving the recycling system.
