Huang Guangfu, 37 years old this year, is a young teacher at the College of Agriculture of Yunnan University, and also the head of the perennial rice science and technology institute established by Yunnan University in Mane Village, Mengzhe Town, Menghai County, Yunnan Province. For many years, he has led his students to root in the fields and engage in technical research and development. The team utilized the unique underground stem asexual reproduction ability of Changxiong wild rice to successfully cultivate new varieties such as "Yunda 25" and "Yunda 107", achieving a breakthrough of "one-time planting and continuous harvesting" of rice, and bringing the agricultural achievement of "harvesting rice like chives" from the laboratory to the field. Traditional rice cultivation requires year after year of repetitive labor, while for perennial rice, growers can start "light hearted" from the second year - without the need for repeated input of seeds, seedlings, and plowing, directly entering the field management stage and achieving continuous harvesting. While maintaining the same yield, farmers can free up a lot of time to develop side businesses. Huang Guangfu said that in recent years, the continuous deepening of the comprehensive rural revitalization strategy has provided a broad stage for young people to engage in agriculture.
