Cancer is a major public health issue that threatens the health of Chinese residents. Although international research has shown that cancer can be prevented and controlled, the overall level of cancer health literacy among Chinese residents needs to be improved, especially in rural and remote areas where the knowledge dissemination rate is still insufficient. Ji Jiafu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, director of the Department of Surgery at Peking University Cancer Hospital, and director of the Peking University Cancer Research Center, suggested improving the health literacy of the entire population and building a solid cancer prevention and control network. Member Ji Jiafu has been engaged in clinical and scientific research work in gastrointestinal surgery for more than 40 years, leading the development of multiple national standards for the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, and always paying attention to issues related to cancer prevention and treatment. He suggested that firstly, a health education model led by the government and coordinated by multiple departments should be established to promote the popularization of health knowledge among the whole population and increase the awareness of early diagnosis of cancer. The second is to carry out cancer prevention science popularization through multiple channels, enhance grassroots science popularization capabilities, use new media technology to expand the coverage of health promotion, and provide professional training for grassroots medical personnel to achieve prevention and treatment forward. The third is to strengthen the construction of the national health science popularization resource library and expert library, ensure the authority of science popularization information, prevent false information from misleading the public, and enhance the awareness of cancer prevention among the whole population. Through these measures, we will enhance public awareness of cancer prevention, early screening, and early diagnosis, promote the popularization of healthy lifestyles, ultimately reduce the burden of cancer, and achieve the goal of 'building a healthy China'
