Hong Kong International Airport achieves record high passenger volume in January

The number of aircraft takeoffs and landings increased by 17% year-on-year to 33660, both reaching a new high after the epidemic; The freight volume increased by 4.1% year-on-year to 394000 tons. The Airport Authority stated that all passenger categories (including Hong Kong residents, visitors, transit passengers, and transit passengers) recorded double-digit growth in January compared to the same period last year, with the most significant increase in passenger volume between Southeast Asia, mainland China, and Japan during the month. In January 2025, the upward trend in freight volume continued, with positive growth in all freight categories, with the highest increase of 12.2% recorded in transit freight volume. Among the major trading regions, freight flows between the Middle East, Europe, and other areas showed the most significant growth in January. Looking back at the past 12 months, the passenger volume of Hong Kong International Airport has increased significantly by 30.5% year-on-year to 54.2 million passengers, the number of aircraft takeoffs and landings has increased by 27.6% to 368195, and the cargo volume has increased by 12% to 4.95 million tons. In addition, in January 2025, Hong Kong International Airport will add three new city terminals in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, located at Guangzhou Hotel, Foshan Nanhai Vanke Plaza, and Taishan Chang Dachang Plaza, providing direct bus and sedan services to Hong Kong International Airport.
