The Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety concluded on the 20th in the southern Moroccan city of Marrakesh, and adopted the Marrakesh Declaration on Road Safety. This conference is jointly hosted by the World Health Organization, the Moroccan Ministry of Transport and Logistics, and the Moroccan National Road Safety Agency, and lasts for three days. Attendees from around the world discussed how to improve the global road traffic safety situation. The Marrakesh Declaration states that approximately 3% of the world's gross domestic product is lost due to road traffic accidents, and there are still significant challenges in improving global road traffic safety. In addition, the improvement of road traffic conditions in developing countries still faces problems of funding shortage and difficulty in implementing strategies. Safety has become a universal priority, through stronger political will, increased investment scale, strengthened partnerships, and the active participation of all stakeholders, in order to reduce road traffic casualties through joint efforts. World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in the opening video speech of the conference that nearly 1.2 million people die from road safety accidents worldwide every year. There is still a lot of work to be done to achieve the goal of halving global road traffic fatalities by 2030.
