Spokesperson for the General Administration of Customs of China, Lv Daliang, stated on the 13th that China's exports will continue to demonstrate resilience and vitality this year. According to the latest official data, China's export scale exceeded 25 trillion yuan (RMB) for the first time in 2024, reaching 25.45 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%, and maintaining growth for 8 consecutive years. From a country by country perspective, China's exports to more than 160 countries and regions will grow in 2024, including 9.6% year-on-year growth for countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road", 13.4% year-on-year growth for ASEAN, 23.3% year-on-year growth for Brazil, 19.2% year-on-year growth for the United Arab Emirates, and 18.2% year-on-year growth for Saudi Arabia. During the same period, China's exports to the European Union and the United States increased by 4.3% and 6.1% respectively year-on-year. Lv Daliang stated at the "China's High Quality Economic Development Results" series of press conferences held on the same day that the year-on-year growth rate of China's exports accelerated in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the first three quarters. This is not only a continuation of the long-term positive trend, but also a reflection of the effective implementation of policies. In addition, factors such as the delayed fleet schedule after the typhoon in September last year, the earlier Spring Festival holiday this year compared to last year, and the possible escalation of trade protectionism have all caused some disruptions to normal production and operation activities. When it comes to the export trend this year, Lv Daliang said that despite the increasing external environment and uncertainty challenges, China's exports have the characteristics of complete product types, flexible conversion of growth momentum, and diversified and stable markets. Exports will continue to demonstrate resilience and vitality. (New Society)
