Align the 'particles' to conduct thorough research

2024-12-23

On December 20th, in the laboratory of the International Innovation Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the "International Innovation Research Institute") at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, Shuai Zijun, the head of the bio additive manufacturing research team, picked up a white material slightly larger than a tooth and handed it to the reporter. The small piece of "bone" in Shuai Cijun's hand may seem unremarkable, but related research has taken nearly 20 years. Recently, the project "Controllable Preparation and Functional Design Research of Degradable Bone Implants" led by Shuai Zijun won the first prize of the Natural Science Award of Jiangxi Province Science and Technology Award in 2023. This research has significant technological and market advantages in the field of oral medicine. Currently, it has signed a phase one industrialization agreement with a biotechnology company in Xi'an, with an investment of 100 million yuan Shuai Zijun said that the implementation of this project is of great significance for promoting the upgrading of the high-performance medical device industry. Xiong Shixian, Vice President of the International Innovation Research Institute, introduced: "Particle materials involve various aspects, such as bio additive manufacturing, intelligent mining and metallurgy processes, advanced functional material devices, hydrogen metallurgy and new materials, and disordered matter science, which are key areas of the research institute. These research directions include additive manufacturing, mining and metallurgy processes, hydrogen energy preparation and application, rare earth materials, molecular ferroelectric materials, and optoelectronic functional materials." In the microscale fine 3D printing laboratory of Academician Yu Aibing's team at the International Innovation Research Institute, Dr. Cao Lei demonstrated to reporters the new material fine printing technology and printing ink based on aerosol spraying. This technology can achieve printing accuracy up to several micrometers and micro scale 3D printing capability, with representative application areas including brain computer interfaces and flexible devices. In the demonstration experimental area of high-performance materials, the latest scientific research achievements of the polymer aerogel research group, Dr. Zhang Sizhao, the head of the research group, introduced to the reporter the research progress of aerogel thermal protection materials that his team is tackling, as well as environmentally friendly bio based chitosan aerogel energy-saving and thermal insulation materials for green and low-carbon buildings. Zhang Sizhao turned on a flamethrower with a temperature exceeding 1000 ℃, aimed it at a white thin sample, and burned it for several seconds. However, the material did not show any deformation or damage. Zhang Sizhao said that the sample has the properties of high temperature resistance, efficient heat insulation, flame retardant and fireproof, dimensional, etc. How to realize the structural multi-function integrated construction of aerogel thermal protection materials is the main research direction of their team, and their achievements will also be implemented. Stone, soil, grain, salt, powder, and other materials are all particulate matter, and research involves many fields such as mining, materials, and energy Professor Zhou Zongyan, Director of the Key Laboratory of Particle Technology in Jiangxi Province, gave an analogy to reporters that due to people's limited understanding of particle behavior during the process, their actual operation has to rely on experience, like operating in a "black box". Zhou Zongyan introduced that the goal of the laboratory is to focus on particle fluid multiphase material flow transport, key operation unit optimization decision-making and intelligent control, advanced functional materials and device intelligent manufacturing, and other research fields involved in process industry processes. The laboratory will focus on conducting basic research related to particles, making the "black box" bright. Our research institute relies on Jiangxi University of Science and Technology and the Australian Computational Particle Technology Research Center, combined with the characteristic industries of Jiangxi Province, and uses the institute as a platform to gather innovative forces, achieving interdisciplinary intersection and integration of machinery, materials, chemistry, resources, energy, and other fields Xiong Shixian introduced that the Institute has Yu Aibing, an academician of the Australian Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Guo Liejin, an academician of the CAS Member, Shuai Cijun, Zhao Baojun, Chen Bin and other national talents.
