The murals of Yongle Palace, a millennium old artistic treasure, carry profound historical heritage and cultural value. As the guardians of this treasure, we bear a heavy responsibility and mission on our shoulders. We carefully guard the Yongle Palace, afraid of adding any burden to this millennium art treasure. However, time waits for no one, and we realize that more proactive and effective measures must be taken to protect the murals. Since 2017, we have introduced advanced digital sensors and other devices for real-time monitoring and precise control of the microenvironment in which murals are located. These devices are like invisible eyes, constantly guarding the safety of the murals. In addition, the installation of protective nets and the activation of digital scanning have established the first line of defense for murals, ensuring their preservation in a relatively stable environment. Nowadays, the rapid development of technology has opened up new doors for us to protect and showcase. We work hand in hand with multiple technology companies, leveraging advanced technological capabilities to restore the former glory of the Yongle Palace murals. We have worked closely with professional cultural companies, and after countless trial and error efforts, we have finally achieved phased results. Through AI technology learning and coding, the key characters in the Yongle Palace murals are presented in vivid images to people, instantly bringing history closer to the present. In terms of display, we are innovating and using cutting-edge technologies such as VR panoramic display and AR simulation restoration to showcase the full picture of murals. Tourists put on VR devices, as if traveling through a time and space tunnel, experiencing firsthand the vivid scenes of mural painting. The application of 3D printing technology enables us to highly restore every detail of murals, allowing this precious cultural heritage to be widely spread and inherited. In terms of physical restoration, we have successfully completed the disease repair work of the Dragon and Tiger Hall and the Chongyang Hall, smoothing out the scars of time for these ancient murals. Digital restoration, on the other hand, brings new vitality to murals in the digital world from another dimension. These two restoration methods complement each other and jointly safeguard the integrity and inheritance of the murals in Yongle Palace. Our repair results have caused a sensation overseas. At the exhibition in France, many experts were amazed by our technology and achievements. They believed that this was a successful case of China using advanced technology for cultural heritage protection, providing new inspiration for cultural heritage protection in Europe and a new example for global cultural heritage protection. This is not only a recognition of our work, but also an encouragement for us to persevere and innovate. Nowadays, tourists can appreciate the details of murals up close and feel their subtleties in digital exhibition halls. AI guided tours and other services also provide tourists with a richer visiting experience. We will continue to deepen digital protection work, expand cooperation and communication with all parties, and explore more innovative display methods. I believe that in the future, the murals in Yongle Palace will shine even brighter. (New Society)
