In order to adapt to the new situation and requirements of economic and social development, the National Health Commission, together with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other departments, has orderly carried out the adjustment of the "Classification and Catalogue of Occupational Diseases". The original 10 categories of 132 occupational diseases have been adjusted to 12 categories of 135 occupational diseases (including 4 open-ended clauses). Two new categories of occupational diseases have been added to the directory, namely occupational musculoskeletal disorders and occupational mental and behavioral disorders, with one new occupational disease added to each category. Among them, carpal tunnel syndrome has been added to the category of occupational musculoskeletal disorders (limited to manufacturing workers who repeatedly or forcefully work on the wrist for a long time), and post-traumatic stress disorder has been added to the category of occupational mental and behavioral disorders (limited to emergency rescue personnel such as police officers, medical and health personnel, and firefighters involved in emergency response). It can be seen that a major focus of this occupational disease catalog adjustment is the issue of occupational disease prevention for emergency rescue personnel. The emergency response system for sudden incidents in our country is becoming increasingly complete, and the emergency rescue capabilities are constantly improving, providing more reliable guarantees for the safety of people's lives and property. Whenever there is an unexpected event, people can always see the figure of a rebel. They not only face significant personal safety risks at the time of the incident, but may also experience post-traumatic stress disorder afterwards. Due to its delayed onset and lack of significant physical damage, it is easily overlooked. Post traumatic stress disorder is a serious psychological disorder caused by strong psychological stress such as sudden disasters or natural disasters, which can lead to symptoms such as trauma re experience, increased alertness, avoidance or numbness in patients. Some emergency rescue personnel involved in handling emergencies are easily troubled by this disease, experiencing situations such as constantly flashing images, increased alertness, and avoidance of the incident site, which may seriously affect their work and life. If this disease is not included in the occupational disease catalog, emergency rescue personnel who are troubled by it may not receive sufficient attention and timely diagnosis and treatment, and the cost of medical treatment may also be difficult to effectively guarantee. This adjustment of the occupational disease catalog has filled this gap and provided better protection for emergency rescue personnel affected by this disease. These heroes risked their personal safety to carry out rescue operations and deserve the love and care of the entire society. Post traumatic stress disorder, which is included in the category of occupational diseases, mainly targets emergency rescue personnel such as police officers, medical and health personnel, and firefighters who participate in the handling of emergencies. The word 'etc.' means that far more than the three types of personnel mentioned above are involved in emergency rescue. Other public officials, volunteers, caring individuals, and ordinary groups may also suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder after actively participating in emergency rescue. Therefore, these emergency rescue participants can also refer to existing standards to enhance their occupational health protection level. This category adjustment not only helps to further alleviate the worries of emergency rescue personnel, but also objectively motivates relevant personnel to be more willing to take on responsibilities. When post-traumatic stress disorder is included in occupational diseases, corresponding occupational disease prevention measures should also be introduced. It can be foreseen that as the relevant occupational disease prevention system becomes more scientific and perfect, emergency rescue activities will also become more orderly. (New Society)
