On the 10th, it was learned from State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. that Lianyungang Port has taken the lead in building and operating a nearly zero carbon port smart microgrid in China, which can provide replicable and promotable samples for the construction of zero carbon ports in China. In June 2024, the Ministry of Transport announced the first batch of typical zero carbon pilot projects for highway and waterway transportation and facilities, including the near zero carbon terminal of Lianyungang Port New Oriental International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. and the zero carbon freight container hub (logistics park) of China Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base. To this end, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. and Lianyungang Port Holdings Group Co., Ltd. have jointly piloted the construction of a "multi energy complementary" smart microgrid at the port, aiming to achieve near zero carbon emissions throughout the entire process of cargo ships from port berthing to cargo loading and unloading transportation. The smart microgrid built this time integrates 5.2 MW distributed photovoltaic power generation equipment and 5 MW new energy storage facilities. According to the actual application of the port, 35 sets of battery swapping container heavy trucks, 2 pure electric tugboats, electric front cranes, empty container stackers and other equipment have been put into use. Previously, Lianyungang Port has built 16 sets of port shore power systems with a total capacity of 36200 kVA, 1 heavy-duty truck swapping station, and 7 charging and swapping equipment such as 160 kW DC charging piles. Together with the power generation and consumption equipment, they form an overall solution for the port's smart microgrid. Li Wei, Director of the Marketing Department of State Grid Lianyungang Power Supply Company, introduced that in order to ensure safe operation, the microgrid has set up operation modes such as independent economic operation, safe off grid operation, participation in demand response, and support for grid interaction. After various types of power generation and consumption equipment are connected to the microgrid, the annual power generation of clean energy can exceed 6 million kWh. Through flexible scheduling of the microgrid, electricity costs can be saved by more than 3 million yuan per year, 21000 tons of standard coal can be saved, and carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 56000 tons Yang Huadong, General Manager of the Engineering Technology Department of Lianyungang Port Holdings Group Co., Ltd., said.
