On December 2nd, at the Harbin Planning Exhibition Hall, the cultural and creative exhibition "Harbin Treasure - Urban Decoding and Space Exploration" planned by a student team from the School of Architecture and Design at Harbin Institute of Technology kicked off, attracting the public to come and watch. This exhibition originated from an undergraduate course called "City Reading" at Harbin Institute of Technology. This course combines theory with practice, not only teaching urban architectural culture and spatial charm, but also leading students into ancient buildings to personally discover and experience the beauty of architecture. Transforming students' "classroom assignments" into exhibitions has always been the wish of the course lecturer and Associate Professor Yi Xiaoxiang from the School of Architecture and Design. "With the joint efforts of more than 50 teachers and students, after three months, this exhibition embodies our hard work, wisdom, creativity, and expectations. We want to move it out of the campus, let more people see it, and let more people gain something from seeing it." Cardboards have transformed into wonderful spaces, and pictures reflect the unparalleled beauty of Harbin. Lines of text flow with students' endless descriptions and imaginations of the wonderful experience of this city... Walking into the exhibition is like entering the "past and present" of Harbin. It is worth mentioning that this exhibition is mainly planned by a student team from the School of Architecture and Design at Harbin Institute of Technology. On the basis of the course achievements, we have integrated more academic knowledge, reorganized the exhibition content, and taken thousands of photos... "When it comes to the design concept, Shi Cheng, the student team leader of this exhibition and a doctoral student in the School of Architecture and Design of 2023, told reporters that Harbin is his second hometown. During his eight years of studying and living here, he has developed deep emotions and wants to pass on this love to more people, so that more people can fall in love with" Erbin "and stay there. The subculture exhibition is an innovative practice for schools to continuously expand the path of aesthetic education. Throughout the years, the school has strengthened the top-level design of the five educations and promoted the integration of aesthetic education into the entire process of talent cultivation. Sun Cheng, Dean of the School of Architecture and Design at Harbin Institute of Technology, said, "This event is based on offering general courses on aesthetic education, deeply exploring the potential of disciplines to radiate aesthetic education, connecting in class and out of class, integrating and developing, and achieving the infiltration of 'aesthetic education'." The exhibition will last until the end of February 2025 and will serve as an offline on-site learning base to assist in the training of volunteers for the Asian Winter Games. (New Society)
