During his inspection in Baoji, Shaanxi Province, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "the 5000 year old Chinese civilization still needs to be further explored, deeply studied, and interpreted for its connotation and spirit, and the great wisdom contained therein should be well publicized, so as to make everyone more respected and loved, enhance their pride in Chinese civilization, promote the spirit of patriotism, and pass down the excellent traditional Chinese culture from generation to generation." Geographical names are geographical indications and cultural symbols that carry memories and history. Ancient place names have gone through the vicissitudes of time and have a rich cultural heritage. Nowadays, many places are exploring and expanding the connotation of ancient place names, connecting history with reality, unifying practical value with aesthetic value, and combining protection and inheritance with the spirit of the times. Ancient place names have become a new business card for development. Xi'an Qujiang - Revival of the Prosperous Tang Dynasty Weather "Over 1200 years ago, on an autumn day, an elegant gathering was held where Du Fu, Gao Shi, Cen Shen, and others climbed the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and each wrote a poem, leaving behind a beautiful story for future generations." At the South Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, guide Jin Han was explaining the historical story of Qujiang to tourists. "If Chang'an showcased the capital city of the prosperous Tang Dynasty to the world, then Qujiang must have been the most beautiful 'check-in spot' in Chang'an at that time." On the site of the ancient Qujiang, tourists dressed in Tang costumes and Hanfu shuttle between the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Qujiang Pool Site Park, and the Tang Furong Garden. Under the illumination of the lanterns, the ancient Qujiang River shines brightly, and the atmosphere of the prosperous Tang Dynasty seems to have reappeared. Li Lingfu, a professor at Shaanxi Normal University and vice president of the Ancient Capital Society, introduced: "Qujiang rose in the Qin and Han dynasties, flourished in the Sui and Tang dynasties, and lasted for 1300 years. The Tang people diverted the water source of Zhongnan Mountain, repaired and expanded the water surface by thousands of acres, and built the Furong Garden, Dacien Temple, and Dayan Pagoda, making it the most charming place in Chang'an during the Tang Dynasty." Walking by the Qujiang Pool and strolling through the streets of the Tang Dynasty's Night City, sculptures and stone carvings, tree branches and branches hanging everywhere are familiar poems. Qujiang is one of the most prolific places for poetry in China, "said Li Lingfu. According to statistics, literati and scholars of all dynasties have left over 2000 poems depicting the beautiful scenery of Qujiang here, with more than 520 poems related to Qujiang in the "Complete Tang Poems" alone. In the early 1990s, Qujiang was rarely visited by tourists except for landmarks such as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Liang Ziyi, the head of the Planning and Design Department of Xi'an Qujiang Datang Night City Cultural and Commercial (Group) Co., Ltd., introduced that exploring new ways of cultural inheritance and development has gradually brought new brilliance to Qujiang. The 'restoration' action is the first step in the inheritance and development of Qujiang culture. In the Ziyun Building of the Tang Dynasty Furong Garden, the drum beats are dense and the sound of the drums is resounding. The sounds of sheng, gongs, flute, and song are all playing, and the stage play "Drum" of the Tang Dynasty court Yan music is being performed. Fan Bingnan, the president of Xi'an Dongchang Drum Music Society, introduced that the society has restored Tang Dynasty Yan music, and through the innovative performances of musicians, the sound of drum music has lasted for thousands of years. Xi'an drum music has been included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Not only music, but also the Purple Cloud Tower in the Tang Dynasty Furong Garden, built according to historical records, has restored history and become a new cultural and tourism landmark; The "Silk Road Dance" of the Tang Dynasty's Night City brings back the soaring Dunhuang of the prosperous Tang Dynasty; With a VR (virtual reality) head display, you can immerse yourself in China-Chic Theater and start a thrilling and wonderful adventure... In the process of inheritance and development, Qujiang's "cultural tourism resources" are transformed into "cultural tourism products", and intangible culture is integrated into tangible experience. From Tang culture themed performances such as "Little Sister of the Tumbler" and "Secret Box of the Prosperous Tang Dynasty", to national level non heritage brand restaurants, cultural centers, museums, from nearly a hundred Hanfu stores to exclusive cultural and creative trendy toys, from smart navigation to immersive AR (augmented reality) shows like "Wild Goose Pagoda Flowing Light"... Qujiang tells the timeless charm and vitality of excellent traditional Chinese culture with its colorful features. Kaifeng Royal Street - A leisurely song rhyme brings visitors to both sides of Kaifeng's "Songdu Royal Street" street. There are many multi-storey Song style antique buildings, most of which are shops for calligraphy, painting, ink, folk crafts, time-honored Potsticker, and Kaifeng soup dumplings. Walking along the way, it reminds people of historical events such as "over 200 steps wide, with imperial corridors on both sides" and "looking like embroidery" recorded in the "Tokyo Dream of Splendor". From the Northern Song Dynasty to the present, the central axis of Kaifeng has remained unchanged for thousands of years, and this central axis is Yujie Song Xixin, former deputy director of the Kaifeng Municipal Construction Commission and expert in the protection of Kaifeng Yujie, introduced that "restoring the name of Yujie is an important step in exploring Kaifeng's historical and cultural heritage and showcasing the charm of the ancient capital." As a national historical and cultural city, Kaifeng has a large number of ancient place names, including Yujie, that carry rich historical and cultural connotations. In order to protect ancient place names, Kaifeng City has established a Place Names Committee to strictly manage place names. At the same time, it has arranged and produced short stories about place names, delving into the historical and cultural connotations of Kaifeng's ancient place names and allowing more people to understand them. We are still promoting the formulation of the Kaifeng Ancient Place Names Protection Regulations and strengthening the protection of Kaifeng ancient place names through legislation, "said Gao Xiaoyan, director of the Kaifeng Civil Affairs Bureau. At the north entrance of Yujie, a quaint calligraphy and painting shop is crowded with people. Once upon a time, like many antique neighborhoods, the souvenirs sold here were uniform, lacking uniqueness, and rarely visited by tourists. How to highlight the characteristics? The person in charge of the calligraphy and painting shop, Yang Huijun, gave the answer: "Now we mainly sell cultural products such as Kaifeng Bian embroidery, woodblock New Year paintings, official porcelain, Song Dynasty calligraphy and painting, striving to highlight Kaifeng's characteristics." The rich and diverse cultural products are derived from local guidance and cultivation. Reviving ancient place names is not just about restoring a name or building an antique street, "said Zhu Feng, a member of the Henan Provincial Political Consultative Conference and a professor at Kaifeng Vocational College of Culture and Arts." To restore the charm of the imperial street, we must first protect and inherit the culture, and then develop and innovate on the basis of inheritance. "According to the records in ancient books, restore the pedestrian walkways on both sides of the historical imperial street; With the goal of enhancing the tourist experience, functional zones such as tour areas, cultural and tourism districts, and Song style immersive banquet areas will be divided to transform Yujie into a scenario based historical district; By cultivating and screening merchants along the street, and forming cultural products that are in line with the characteristics of the imperial street, the imperial street has become a showcase for the inheritance and development of Kaifeng culture... Li Tao, Secretary of the Longting District Committee, introduced: "Through the protection and inheritance, the charm of the ancient capital of the Song Dynasty has been successfully combined with contemporary trends, and the imperial street has' come alive '." Nanjing Taoyedu - the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, was particularly lively on both sides of the Qinhuai River in October. Various activities that combine traditional and modern elements, such as cultural lectures, ancient style markets, and parades, attracted many people to come to the ancient ferry and embark on a cultural journey together. Ten miles of Qinhuai River passes through the Ming city wall from Dongshui Pass and flows through Taoyedu. Taoyedu is located near the confluence of Qinhuai River and Guqingxi Waterway, which is both an ancient place name in Nanjing and a cultural landmark of Confucius Temple Scenic Area. Beside the ferry stands a bluestone memorial archway with four vigorous characters "Ancient Peach Leaf Ferry" written on it. On the front of the couplets on both sides, it reads "willows grow on the bank, and peach blossom Ferry lipstick". On the back, it reads "Ji shakes the water of the Qin Dynasty, and the branches bring the wind of the Jin Dynasty". Under the memorial archway is the Citizen Park. I heard that this is a very poetic, picturesque, and culturally rich ferry crossing Tourist Wu Na from Suzhou is playing with her daughter in the Citizen Park. They wear Hanfu, learn to write calligraphy, and read poetry aloud. In the park classroom, Nanjing cultural and historical expert Gao Anning is telling everyone about the past and present of Taoyedu. In ancient times, people came to the Qinhuai River to pray for blessings and dispel disasters, and literati and elegant guests recited poetry and composed poems on the shore Gao Anning said that "Taodu Linliu" was selected as a folk literature project on the representative list of intangible cultural heritage projects at the Nanjing municipal level in 2014. The Confucius Temple Pedestrian Street adjacent to Taoyedu was also selected as one of the first national demonstration pedestrian streets in 2020. Traveling by boat, Liu Jingjing, the general manager of Nanjing Confucius Temple Cultural Tourism Group, said that the Peach Leaf Ferry is the essence of the "Ten Mile Qinhuai River" water tour line in the east. When passing through the Zhuque Bridge and Taoye Ferry on both sides of the Qinhuai River, as well as the Jiangnan Gongyuan, Bailuzhou Park, and Dongshui Pass, the painted boats push open the clear water and sway the waves. These ancient place names are no longer just distant legends written by literati, but become intoxicating scenes with poetic and picturesque feelings flowing in front of us. Now, the function of Taoye Ferry as a ferry no longer exists, but the ancient memorial archway and stone terrace are still there, and the living water of cultural inheritance is still flowing. Qinhuai District continues to promote beautification and upgrading projects, protect and inherit historical and cultural heritage, and has built a green park of more than 700 square meters around the ancient ferry, connecting the "Ten Mile Qinhuai" waterfront trail, creating a good place for residents and tourists to relax. Walking into the "Qinhuai Gift" store on Gongyuan Street of Confucius Temple, cultural and creative products with peach leaf ferry themes such as Hanfu and mirrors are prominently displayed. Famous ancient place names such as Wuyi Lane, Changganli, and Dacheng Hall have emerged from ancient poetry, giving rise to trendy new products such as themed T-shirts, canvas bags, and refrigerator stickers for "Wang Dao Xie An Memorial Hall," "Two Little Guessing," and "Zhuangyuan Lang. Tourists from all over the world choose to bring back the history and culture of Nanjing. (New Society)
