On November 22, the reporter learned from the Propaganda Department of the Shaodong Municipal Committee of Hunan Province that Shaodong City recently held the second Hunan (Lianqiao) Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Expo. During the Expo, a total of 17 signed projects and 137 agreements for the procurement of traditional Chinese medicine were signed, with a total trade volume of 13.169 billion yuan. Shaodong has a history of over 2000 years of traditional Chinese medicine cultivation, with 2062 types of Chinese medicinal resources and a total reserve of 6.513 million tons, ranking first in Hunan. The annual transaction volume of Shaodong Lianqiao Traditional Chinese Medicine Market ranks fourth in the national specialized market for traditional Chinese medicine. It is an important distribution center for traditional Chinese medicine in southern China and also the development center and radiation center of Hunan's traditional Chinese medicine industry chain worth billions of yuan. In recent years, Shaodong has comprehensively promoted the "Chinese herbal medicine+" strategy, promoted the deep integration of the traditional Chinese medicine industry with other fields, and created a new ecology for the traditional Chinese medicine industry. The local focus is on the advantageous varieties of authentic medicinal materials, increasing the construction of traditional Chinese medicine production bases, and promoting the large-scale and intensive cultivation of bulk traditional Chinese medicine. As of now, there are a total of 330 professional cooperatives for traditional Chinese medicine planting in the city, with 80% of farmers participating in professional cooperatives and moderate scale operations. In addition, Shaodong actively promotes the large-scale cultivation, high-end processing, and market convenience of the traditional Chinese medicine industry through the implementation of the Medicinal Materials Efficiency Enhancement Project. The Lianqiao Pharmaceutical Industry Science and Technology Park, invested and constructed locally, is committed to creating a modern traditional Chinese medicine industrial park that integrates warehousing and logistics, e-commerce, research and development, and testing functions. At the same time, the local government also focuses on cultivating and introducing industrialized leading enterprises with outstanding main business, strong competitiveness, and high growth potential. As of now, there are 53 large-scale enterprises of traditional Chinese medicine and herbal medicine decoction pieces in the city, and a "smart medicine city" integrating commodity distribution, warehousing and logistics, processing and distribution, and e-commerce has been established.
