On the 20th, Uzbekistan's President Mirziyoyev signed a presidential decree reappointing Alipov as the Prime Minister of the government. According to the presidential decree, based on the proposal of the Ukrainian President, the Legislative Yuan (lower house of parliament) of the Supreme Assembly passed a resolution on the 20th, approving Alipov to serve as the Prime Minister. The day before, Alipov signed a resolution announcing that his cabinet had submitted its resignation to the newly established Supreme Council (Parliament). Alipov has served as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan since December 2016. On October 27th of this year, Uzbekistan held elections for the Supreme Assembly and Legislative Yuan. According to the election results released by the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party won 64 seats out of the 150 legislators elected in this election. Uzbekistan has implemented a bicameral parliamentary system since 2005, consisting of a Senate and a Legislative Yuan. The term of office for members of both houses is 5 years. (New Society)
