On November 20-21, the 2024 IATA North Asia CARGODAY and Guangzhou International Air Cargo Hub High Quality Development Conference with the theme of "China Hub, Connecting the World" was held in Guangzhou. During the conference, representatives of domestic and foreign enterprises, experts and scholars, and people from all walks of life discussed, jointly built, and shared the global industrial chain supply chain and the construction plan of China's air cargo hub, helping Guangzhou accelerate the construction of an efficient, low-cost, and highly competitive international logistics center. This conference is jointly hosted by IATA North Asia, Guangdong Airport Management Group Co., Ltd., and China Southern Airlines Group Co., Ltd., and jointly organized by Guangdong Airport Group Logistics Co., Ltd. and China Southern Airlines Logistics Co., Ltd. The construction of freight hubs has been effective. Guangzhou, the core city of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, one of the world's most important manufacturing centers, supply chain centers, and international air cargo hub, is making every effort to promote the construction of a comprehensive gateway composite international aviation hub at Baiyun Airport. It was mentioned at the meeting that the Baiyun Airport route network covers more than 250 destinations worldwide, and the expected cargo and mail volume this year is over 2.3 million tons, which is expected to enter the top ten in the world and will help promote high-quality development of the regional economy and society. After the completion and operation of the third phase expansion project of Baiyun Airport, the cargo terminal area will be expanded to over 1 million square meters, and the annual cargo and mail throughput capacity will reach more than 6 million tons. The route network of Baiyun Airport is constantly improving and encrypting. Currently, it has over 80 domestic and foreign airlines operating normally, with 55 regular all cargo flight points opened. The cargo routes reach Asia, Africa, Oceania, and radiate to North America and Europe. During the conference, attendees also provided suggestions and recommendations for the high-quality development of Guangzhou's air cargo hub, focusing on topics such as "leveraging the advantages of the hub supply chain to reduce comprehensive logistics costs" and "the current status and prospects of high-quality development of regional air cargo hubs". To achieve "local goods, global transportation, global goods, gathering in Guangzhou", Guangzhou's advantages are very prominent. At the meeting, it was mentioned that under the guarantee of Guangzhou, a comprehensive gateway composite international aviation hub, goods can reach the vast majority of cities worldwide within 18 hours from Guangzhou and reach the vast majority of customers worldwide within 24 hours. During the conference, a total of 5 new achievements were announced in the construction of Guangzhou International Air Cargo Hub, reaching multiple cooperation intentions and signing a number of important cooperation agreements. Guangdong Postal Express Logistics and Guangdong Airport Group Logistics Company cooperate to build the China Post Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area aviation hub. The China Post Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Aviation Hub Project will be developed into an important comprehensive aviation logistics hub that connects trunk lines, radiates to the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, serves Guangdong, connects the whole country, and reaches the world. Its main functional positioning includes domestic and international air cargo terminals, domestic express mail processing, international mail general contracting processing, cross-border e-commerce customs clearance center, and integrated warehousing and distribution site. The South China Postal Aviation (International) Hub Center has been put into use. The land side of the South China Post Aviation (International) Hub Center is adjacent to the domestic cargo terminal 1 of Baiyun Airport, and the air side is connected to the airport cargo apron. After the center is put into operation, it will be an important component of China Post's Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area aviation hub project, which will help further enhance the competitiveness of Baiyun Airport as an international hub and assist Baiyun Airport in building a globally influential international freight and postal express hub. The Huadu District Government, Guangzhou Post, and Guangdong Airport Group Logistics Company jointly promote the Guangzhou Post Low altitude Logistics Cooperation Project. The Huadu District Government, in collaboration with Guangzhou Post and Guangdong Airport Group Logistics Company, has signed a cooperation agreement to support the comprehensive construction of Huadu District into an "aviation metropolis and hub Huadu" for the low altitude logistics economy. The three parties will cooperate on building a low altitude logistics network, researching and developing low altitude logistics technology, constructing infrastructure, and promoting green logistics initiatives. Guangdong Airport Group and Cainiao Group cooperate to build Cainiao South China eHub. Both parties will leverage their respective strengths to innovate in business efficiency, operational mechanisms, and smart logistics, creating a globally leading smart logistics industry that is expected to become a benchmark for digital transformation in the aviation logistics field. The cooperation project of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Freight Port Comprehensive Inspection Center has been launched. Guangdong Airport Logistics and China Southern Airlines Logistics jointly utilize the customs supervision resources of Baiyun Airport to establish a comprehensive inspection center for cargo ports at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. The center includes an incoming goods inspection center, a fresh goods inspection center, a medical testing center, and customs related office areas. It will further improve the international goods inspection function of Baiyun Airport, enhance the efficiency of inspection and clearance, and help enhance the international cargo security capabilities of Baiyun Airport. With the continuous improvement of the international aviation hub level of Baiyun Airport, the construction of Guangzhou International Air Cargo Hub has entered the fast lane of high-quality development. Guangdong Airport Group will anchor the primary task of high-quality development, focus on building world-class enterprises and world-class airports, accelerate the construction of an all-around portal composite international aviation hub, take the road of high-quality development of Guangzhou international air cargo hub, and make new contributions to Guangdong's leading role in promoting Chinese path to modernization.
