Practice the true skill of knowing, loving, and nurturing soldiers

2024-11-19

A good relationship between officers and soldiers is a unique political advantage and fine tradition of our army, as well as an important weapon for our army to overcome all difficulties and obstacles. In the new era, how to better continue to carry forward this fine tradition, cultivate revolutionary friendship between officers and soldiers, and consolidate and develop internal relationships of unity, friendship, harmony, and purity, is a long-standing and important challenge facing the vast number of grassroots military leaders. President Xi Jinping profoundly pointed out that "Party organizations at all levels should manage Party members, cadres, and ideology, and grassroots leading cadres should know, love, and cultivate soldiers." This important discourse has pointed out the scientific method and path for grassroots leading cadres. For the vast number of grassroots military leaders, only by taking the initiative and practicing their true skills, truly understanding and loving the soldiers, and nurturing talented soldiers, can we make the relationship between officers and soldiers closer and gather a fighting force of "life and death dependence and solidarity" on the new journey of building a strong military. Leading troops is a regular and fundamental task in the military, and it is also a basic skill that grassroots leading cadres must master. The newly revised "Outline for Grassroots Construction of the Military" points out that efforts should be made to strengthen the learning and education of officers and their job training, improve their political literacy, military literacy, professional literacy, scientific and technological literacy, physical and mental qualities, and practical leadership abilities such as knowledge, love, and education of soldiers. It can be said that comprehensively forging the "three solid" grassroots level, creating a combat collective with warmth, practicality, and strong cohesion, requires grassroots leading cadres to lead by example in understanding, loving, and cultivating soldiers. Currently, there have been many new changes in the composition and structure of officers and soldiers. Post-95s and 00s officers and soldiers have become the mainstay of grassroots units, and the proportion of college student soldiers has significantly increased. They have distinct personalities, active thinking, and pay more attention to democratic consciousness, rights consciousness, and rule of law consciousness. At the same time, this generation of officers and soldiers has grown up in the online environment, with some immersed in the concept of "one person, one machine, one world", and the relationship between officers and soldiers is more or less distant. Grassroots military leaders should consolidate and develop internal relationships of unity, friendship, harmony, and purity. They should keep up with the changes of the times, closely follow the actual situation of officers and soldiers, update their military leadership concepts, improve their military leadership skills, consciously understand, love, and cultivate elite soldiers, and strive to be confidants, warm-hearted people, and guides of soldiers. Having knowledge of soldiers requires understanding both the individual and the whole. Leading thousands of soldiers, knowing soldiers is the first rule. Familiarize oneself with and understand soldiers, and continuously improve one's "knowledge of soldiers", is an important part of maintaining close relationships between officers and soldiers. In reality, many grassroots military leaders are not unfamiliar with the situation of soldiers. They often have a clear understanding of where soldiers come from, their educational level, and their interests and hobbies. But if one is only satisfied with this shallow level of knowledge, it is difficult to cope with new situations and problems in the relationship between officers and soldiers. Knowing soldiers not only requires having a clear understanding of each individual and situation, but also strengthening a global perspective and systematic thinking, being good at grasping the overall characteristics of officers and soldiers, and continuously improving the coverage and pertinence of knowing soldiers. This requires grassroots military leaders to actively broaden their channels of knowledge about soldiers, through various channels such as society, family, the internet, and heart to heart talks, to understand and familiarize themselves with soldiers from multiple perspectives and all angles, and to have a thorough and detailed understanding of their specific situations. At the same time, it is also necessary to be adept at applying the universal connection viewpoint of Marxism, closely linking the educational level and growth experience, strengths and interests, personality traits, life experience, and family relationships of soldiers, and conducting in-depth research on their universality, regularity, and tendency, so as to lead by outline and know in depth, not only knowing where and what soldiers are doing, but also knowing what they are thinking and hoping for; Knowing both the "what" and "why" of the problem, firmly grasp the initiative of knowing the soldiers. Love soldiers with sincerity and meticulousness. The ancient saying goes, "If you see a soldier as a baby, you can go to Shenxi with him; if you see a soldier as your beloved son, you can die with him." With love, the morale of the army will gather; without love, the morale of the army will disperse. When Liu Gui, known as the "elite soldier in special operations," served as the company commander, the soldiers trusted him and were willing to block bullets for him. And the birth of this power comes from Liu Gui's brotherly care and love for the soldiers. To those who seek victory, first give love to the soldiers. Grassroots military leaders should treat soldiers like family members, take their worries and troubles as their own, and ensure that they can see them three times a day, feel their hands warm and cold, ask about difficulties and confusion, think about safety issues, and follow up on action tasks, so that care and love are reflected in specific actions and implemented in details. At the same time, we should view each soldier with a trusting, appreciative, and developmental perspective, dialectically examine their shortcomings and deficiencies, and care about the growth and progress of each soldier with a sense of parental and brotherly love. When they succeed, share joy together; Timely relieve and enlighten when they are frustrated; When they make mistakes, they should criticize and correct them decisively, care for them without spoiling them, have warmth and scale, and strive to become the "caring person" and "good brother" of soldiers. Nurturing soldiers is powerful, as it not only uses bacon to forge souls but also hardens them into steel. Our army has always been a great university and melting pot for training and nurturing people. If grassroots leading cadres want to lead an invincible and strong army, the top priority is to make great efforts to cultivate soldiers into new era revolutionary soldiers with soul, ability, courage, and morality. War is cruel, and it requires bloodshed and sacrifice. To reduce bloodshed and win battles during wartime, we need to train and sharpen our troops in peacetime. Otherwise, once the combat mission is carried out and unable to charge forward or take down, the troops will pay a painful price. Grassroots military leaders should establish the concept of long-term responsibility for soldiers, be good teachers and friends to soldiers, educate and guide soldiers to arm their minds with the Party's innovative theories, solve the "master switch" problem of worldview, outlook on life, and values, and ensure absolute loyalty, absolute purity, and absolute reliability. At the same time, we should actively build a good platform, set up a good arena, encourage everyone to focus on their own positions, fully demonstrate their abilities, and strengthen their skills. We should comprehensively train and improve both internally and externally, do first-class work, and practice first-class abilities. We should strive to be outstanding experts in wrestling and honing, and become the sharp sword and iron fist to win in the process of striving for excellence. Unity and friendship among officers and soldiers make war invincible. On the new journey, every grassroots leading cadre will spare no effort to cultivate the true skills of knowing, loving, and nurturing soldiers. They will not fear difficulties, work together to charge forward, and strive together with soldiers. Through sharing weal and woe and cooperating with each other, they will continuously cultivate the deep affection of comrades. The relationship between officers and soldiers will become more united and harmonious, and smoothly promote the strong military industry. (New Society)
