Currently, intelligent connected vehicles have become a global development consensus, and major automotive powers have listed intelligent connected vehicles as a strategic high ground. After years of development, China has achieved good results in the development of intelligent connected vehicles, and has established a complete industrial system covering basic chips, sensors, computing platforms, chassis control, network connections, etc. At the same time, the infrastructure layout is accelerating. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, more than 50 cities across the country have carried out intelligent connected vehicle road testing demonstrations, opened 32000 kilometers of test roads, completed about 10000 kilometers of road intelligent transformation, and installed more than 8700 sets of road testing units. In the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the world's first high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone for vehicle road cloud integration was launched in 2020. Today, it has achieved intelligent connected roads and smart city private networks covering 160 square kilometers, with a total deployment of over 800 autonomous driving vehicles. The establishment of a demonstration zone aims to explore the large-scale application of vehicle road cloud integration technology in cities, promote breakthroughs in key technologies in various aspects such as vehicles, roadside, cloud control, networks, maps, and security, establish large-scale quantitative infrastructure, and cooperate with vehicles in the final environment of research and development testing, namely public road testing for verification, ultimately achieving comprehensive commercial application of intelligent connected vehicles Xin Keduo, Deputy Director of the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Center, introduced that as of now, 17 testing demonstration zones, 16 "dual intelligence" pilot cities, and 7 national connected vehicle demonstration zones in China have completed the intelligent upgrading and transformation of more than 7000 kilometers of roads, and achieved a certain scale of intelligent connected vehicle operation and commercial application. The development of intelligent connected vehicles cannot be separated from the support of new generation information technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing. The 5G network provides real-time data transmission capability for the vehicle road cloud system, while artificial intelligence and big data technology provide powerful computing power for system decision-making and data processing. Huawei Executive Director Yu Chengdong stated that on the one hand, we need to accelerate the adoption of 5G in smart cars and improve network connectivity capabilities, and on the other hand, we need to continue technological innovation in the field of intelligent driving. It should also be noted that intelligent connected vehicles still face challenges such as fragmented scenarios, inconsistent standards, and data silos in the process of commercialization. The integration of vehicle, road, and cloud requires joint efforts from multiple departments, making coordination difficult. However, the high initial investment and difficulty in generating clear returns in the short term have also deterred many car companies from pursuing it. Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong stated at the recently held 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference that he will support enterprises in the automotive, electronics, software and other fields to jointly carry out technological breakthroughs and accelerate industrial applications; Encourage relevant parties to jointly build an autonomous driving data sharing and model training platform, promoting the integrated development of automobiles with smart grids, intelligent transportation, and smart cities. At the same time, it is necessary to deepen the pilot application of vehicle road cloud integration and promote the cross regional application pilot of intelligent connected vehicles in a steady and orderly manner; Improve the network infrastructure and increase the installation ratio of in vehicle network terminals; Continuously expanding multi scenario applications and exploring sustainable business models.
