The "2024 Greater Bay Area Traditional Chinese Medicine Testing Technology Exchange Conference and Western Pacific Herbal Standard Method Coordination Seminar" opened at the University of Macau on the 29th. The conference aims to strengthen cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine testing in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, leverage each other's strengths, enhance technical exchanges, promote common development, and work together to create a highland for traditional Chinese medicine quality testing and certification in the Greater Bay Area. At the opening ceremony, the Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Testing Center of the University of Macau held a press conference on the new book "Research and Development of International Quality Standards for Lingnan Characteristic Traditional Chinese Medicine" and introduced the research results of the Macau University Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality Research Team. Professor Li Shaoping, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Western Pacific Herbal Regulation Coordination Forum (FHH) and Director of the Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Testing Center at the University of Macau, expressed his expectation to strengthen cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine testing in the Greater Bay Area through the conference, leverage their respective advantages, enhance technical exchanges, promote common development, and build a highland for traditional Chinese medicine testing and certification in the Greater Bay Area. Ding Yi, Director of Guangzhou Institute of Drug Control, expressed the hope that through this exchange meeting, the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area can further strengthen cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine inspection and quality standard research, especially in the research of Lingnan traditional Chinese medicine and the formulation and revision of traditional Chinese medicine standards. This will promote the high-quality development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry in the Greater Bay Area from multiple perspectives of industry, academia, and research, and promote the standardization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine. At the exchange meeting, attending experts had in-depth discussions on topics such as traditional Chinese medicine testing technology, quality standards, and cooperation in the Bay Area. The organizer stated that the conference will strengthen the exchange and cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine testing technology in the Greater Bay Area, injecting new impetus into the establishment of Macao's traditional Chinese medicine testing and certification, promoting the traditional Chinese medicine health industry, and promoting moderate and diversified economic development. The exchange meeting is jointly organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the Western Pacific Herbal Regulation Coordination Forum, the Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Testing Center of the University of Macau, the Guangzhou Institute for Drug Control, and the Government Traditional Chinese Medicine Testing Center of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. FHH, founded in 2002, is a technical forum that focuses on exploring the quality, effectiveness, and safety of herbal medicines, and promoting coordination and development in traditional medicine and herbal management among countries in the Western Pacific region.
