On October 19th, the exhibition "Celebrating National Day with One Heart - The Collection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area" opened at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. After the Hong Kong exhibition period ends, it will be exhibited in Shenzhen and Macau. The exhibition is themed around auspicious beasts that symbolize good luck and prosperity. Through interactive exhibits, graphic and textual display boards, video programs, and experiential activities, it introduces the intangible cultural heritage projects such as performing arts, traditional handicrafts, and festival customs of the eleven cities in the Greater Bay Area to the audience. Hong Kong has the characteristics of diversity and openness, as well as the convergence of Chinese and Western cultures. In the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, it is positioned as a platform for cultural exchange between the East and the West. It should actively promote the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation and work together with other cities in the Bay Area to shape and enrich the humanistic spirit of the Greater Bay Area, enhance cultural identity and cohesion within the region. Liu Lei, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, stated that intangible cultural heritage is an important component of China's excellent traditional culture and a precious resource for jointly building a cultural bay area. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao joint application for the inclusion of Cantonese opera projects in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and the three regions have entered a new stage of exchange and cooperation in intangible cultural heritage. This exhibition is one of the important measures to build various exchange alliances, which will enhance the cultural cohesion of the Greater Bay Area. According to our reporter's on-site understanding, the exhibition is divided into three parts: "Sharing Auspiciousness", "Gathering Craftsmanship", and "Gathering Group Art". Among them, the "Tongxian Rui" exhibition area showcases exhibits and interactive art installations with auspicious animal images, and introduces representative national intangible cultural heritage projects such as Hong Kong's "Sai Kung Kengkou Hakka Dance Kirin", Foshan's "Colorful Lion Head", Macau's "Fishing Drunken Dragon Festival", Shenzhen's "Shatoujiao Fish Lantern Dance", and Zhuhai's "Three Kitchen Crane Dance". The "Craftsmanship Collection" exhibition area introduces traditional handicrafts and intangible cultural heritage projects closely related to daily life in the Greater Bay Area, including Cantonese embroidery, Guangcai production techniques, lantern making techniques, etc. These crafts not only embody the ingenuity of intangible cultural heritage inheritors, but also integrate auspicious meanings and beautiful visions into them. In the "Gathering Art" exhibition area, visitors can experience the diverse aspects of intangible cultural heritage in the Bay Area from different perspectives through creative art installations and demonstration activities with intangible cultural heritage elements. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum from October 20, 2024 to March 16, 2025, and the final stop of the touring exhibition will be held at the Macau Museum of Art at the end of next year.
