At the invitation of Russian Federation President Putin, President Xi Jinping will attend the 16th BRICS Leaders' Meeting in Kazan, Russia from October 22 to 24.
This meeting is the first offline gathering of President Xi Jinping and leaders of BRICS countries after the historic expansion of the BRICS family. Looking ahead to President Xi Jinping's trip to Kazan, three key words are particularly noteworthy——
Keyword 1: "BRICS Cooperation"
I am pleased to see that the enthusiasm of developing countries to participate in BRICS cooperation is high, and many developing countries have applied to join the BRICS cooperation mechanism. We must uphold the spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation in BRICS, and allow more countries to join the BRICS family, "said President Xi Jinping at the 15th BRICS Leaders' Meeting held in Johannesburg, South Africa in August last year.
At the Johannesburg Summit, President Xi Jinping and leaders from all sides worked together to promote the historic expansion of BRICS countries, marking the beginning of the "Greater BRICS Cooperation". After expansion, the gross domestic product of BRICS countries accounts for about 30% of the world's total, their population accounts for nearly half of the world's population, and their trade accounts for one-fifth of global trade. BRICS has become more abundant, substantial, and has greater potential.

This year marks the beginning of the 'Greater BRICS Cooperation'. Keyword 2: "Global South"
18 years ago, in the trend of the collective rise of emerging market countries and developing countries, the BRICS cooperation mechanism emerged.
Today, people are increasingly using the term 'global South' to refer to emerging market countries and developing countries. As a collective of emerging market countries and developing countries, the "Global South" has a natural emotional bond and broad common interests with the BRICS countries. BRICS cooperation also carries the expectation of the "Global South" joining hands to move towards prosperity and strength.
As a developing country and a member of the 'Global South', we have always shared the same breath and destiny with other developing countries, firmly safeguarding the common interests of developing countries, and promoting the increase of representation and voice of emerging market countries and developing countries in global affairs. At the closing ceremony of the 2023 BRICS Business Forum, President Xi Jinping's speech clearly demonstrated China's determination to promote the unity and self-improvement of the 'Global South'.
The BRICS mechanism is the most important channel for strategic communication in the 'Global South'. During the 2017 Xiamen Summit, President Xi Jinping proposed the concept of "BRICS+" cooperation, aiming to seek common development and revitalization with other emerging market countries and developing countries. Nowadays, "BRICS+" has become an important platform for dialogue among BRICS countries towards emerging market countries and developing countries.
Open the door for development and embrace cooperation. During the Kazan Summit, President Xi Jinping will attend not only small-scale and large-scale meetings of leaders, but also events such as the BRICS Plus Leaders' Dialogue. China is willing to work together with all parties to usher in a new era of unity and self-improvement in the "Global South", jointly safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and promote world peace and development.

The world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation, undergoing major adjustments, divisions, and reorganizations, with an increasing number of uncertain, unstable, and unpredictable factors. The world is so big and there are so many problems, upholding and practicing multilateralism is the way to solve them.
Since its establishment, the BRICS countries have always upheld the spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, adhered to the original aspiration of unity and self-improvement, and committed to upholding multilateralism, becoming a positive, stable, and benevolent force in international affairs.
In March 2013, on the eve of attending the fifth BRICS summit, President Xi Jinping pointed out that BRICS cooperation is conducive to "more democratic international relations". In November 2019, President Xi Jinping emphasized during his attendance at the 11th BRICS Leaders' Meeting that "to promote multilateralism, its core essence is that international affairs should be handled by everyone through consultation, and cannot be decided by one country or a few countries
In November 2023, the BRICS leaders held a special video summit on the Israeli Palestinian issue, coordinating their positions and taking actions on the issue, laying a good foundation for the expanded "Greater BRICS Cooperation". In May of this year, China and Brazil jointly issued a consensus on a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis, which has received positive responses from over 110 countries.

During the Kazan Summit, President Xi Jinping will have in-depth exchanges with leaders of various countries on the current international situation, practical cooperation of BRICS, development of BRICS mechanisms, and important issues of common concern.
