The two-day United Nations Future Summit opened on the 22nd at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The summit adopts the "Future Compact" and its annexes to further develop the multilateral framework, adapt to future development, and strive to build a secure, peaceful, just, equal, inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous world. The President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Philemon Young, stated in his opening speech at the summit that we are standing at a crossroads of transformation, facing unprecedented challenges and requiring collective action. The Future Compact not only addresses the current crisis, but also lays the foundation for a sustainable, just, and peaceful global order. He emphasized that challenges and opportunities coexist, and the future is in our own hands. UN Secretary General Guterres stated in his speech that the world is going through a period of turbulence and transformation, and decisive first steps must be taken to update and reform international cooperation. I call on this summit to consider deeper reforms based on the values of the United Nations Charter, to make global institutions more legitimate, fair, and effective. On the day of the Future Summit, the "Future Compact" and its annexes, the "Global Digital Compact" and the "Declaration for Future Generations," were adopted, covering five major areas: sustainable development and development financing, international peace and security, science, technology and innovation and digital cooperation, youth and future generations, and global governance change. The 79th United Nations General Assembly kicked off on the 10th in New York.
