On the 12th, the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission announced that the third batch of designated medical institutions for the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect" has been released, adding 25 designated hospitals including the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat sen University (Nansha), the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat sen University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, Guangdong Maternal and Child Health Hospital, and Guangdong Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. As of now, there are 45 designated medical institutions under the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect", achieving full coverage in 9 cities in the Greater Bay Area. Since April this year, the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission has organized the third batch of designated medical institutions to apply for the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect". Through the qualification assessment of the city, a total of 82 hospitals have submitted application materials. The Guangdong Provincial Health Commission organized relevant experts and department heads with experience in medical cooperation between Hong Kong and Macau to conduct two rounds of evaluation. Eventually, 25 hospitals passed the evaluation and became designated hospitals. It is reported that all 25 designated hospitals are second level or above hospitals, meeting the qualifications for possessing the capital of Hong Kong and Macao medical and health service entities or implementing Hong Kong and Macao medical and health service behaviors and medical cooperation. At the same time, four designated hospitals, including Guangzhou First People's Hospital, underwent qualification changes. The Notice on Issuing the Third Batch of Designated Medical Institutions List for the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect" in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area requires that relevant administrative departments at or above the prefecture level strengthen supervision and management of designated medical institutions. Designated medical institutions should continuously deepen cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao medical and health services, strengthen clinical research and Hong Kong Macau medical device import declaration work, continuously improve the relevant systems of the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect", ensure that imported Hong Kong Macau medical devices are only used for specific medical purposes in their own medical institutions, and ensure the safety of medication and equipment. Guangdong Province officially implemented the "Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Connect" in 2021, and announced two batches of designated medical institution lists in August 2021 and February 2023. As of the end of August this year, designated hospitals have introduced and used 40 types of drugs and medical equipment from Hong Kong and Macao, totaling 80 varieties.
