According to recent information released by China National Petroleum Corporation, the largest oil and gas field in China, the Changqing Oilfield of China National Petroleum Corporation, has historically produced over 1 billion tons of oil and gas equivalent. This is another milestone achievement achieved by Changqing Oilfield after the completion of a 60 million ton mega oil and gas field in 2020. One billion tons of oil and gas, all converted into crude oil equivalent, can fill 80 West Lake. The Ordos Basin, where Changqing Oilfield is located, contains typical low-permeability, low-pressure, and low abundance oil and gas resources internationally, with a density comparable to that of a "sharpening stone", making exploration and development difficult and rare in the world. Zhang Tao, Chief Geologist of Changqing Oilfield Exploration Division, said that Changqing Oilfield started from low permeability, broke through ultra-low permeability, fought against ultra-low permeability again, liberated tight gas, and tackled shale oil. Oil and gas exploration and development continue to shift to deeper layers, and currently 50 oil and gas fields have been successfully discovered, becoming an important growth pole for increasing oil and gas reserves and production in China. The rapid development of China's economy has raised the demand for oil and gas resources. Changqing Oilfield has increased its efforts in oil and gas exploration and development, promoted the large-scale development of unconventional oil and gas resources such as shale oil and tight gas, and made every effort to ensure the safe and stable supply of oil and gas. In 2013, the production exceeded 50 million tons and the "Western Daqing" was completed as scheduled; In 2020, the production exceeded 60 million tons, setting a new milestone in the development history of China's petroleum industry; In 2023, the production will reach 66 million tons, breaking the record for oil and gas field production in China. Changqing Oilfield regards accelerating the production of natural gas as an important mission, and has built the first large-scale atmospheric zone in China with an annual output of 50 billion cubic meters. The annual production of natural gas accounts for about 1/4 of the total domestic production. Twelve national natural gas trunk lines, including the West East Gas Pipeline and the Shaanxi Beijing Pipeline, converge in Changqing, becoming the hub of China's onshore natural gas pipeline network and an important domestic fulcrum of the "the Belt and Road" energy cooperation. Since being the first to supply gas to the capital Beijing in 1997, Changqing Oilfield has supplied over 650 billion cubic meters of natural gas to more than 50 large and medium-sized cities in Beijing Tianjin Hebei, Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia and other regions. It can replace 790 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon emissions by about 1 billion tons, playing an important role in optimizing the national energy structure and improving the ecological environment.
