To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Palace Museum in Hong Kong announced on the 21st that it will launch a special exhibition on the origin of Chinese civilization from September 25, 2024 to February 7, 2025. It is reported that the special exhibition will be divided into three units, showcasing the historical context of the origin, formation, and development of Chinese civilization. The nearly 110 exhibits on display come from 14 cultural and museum institutions across multiple provinces in mainland China and Hong Kong. Among the exhibits, there are 16 national first-class cultural relics, most of which are exhibited for the first time in Hong Kong. In addition, the exhibition on tracing the origins of Chinese civilization will also feature multiple multimedia devices, providing visitors with an immersive experience. The Hong Kong Palace Museum will also hold educational activities such as parent-child archaeology workshops, allowing participants to understand various aspects of archaeological work and gain a deeper understanding of the rich cultural connotations of Chinese civilization. The Exhibition on Tracing the Origins of Chinese Civilization is the second exhibition in the "Chinese Civilization" series at the Palace Museum in Hong Kong. The museum held a special exhibition titled "Gazing at Sanxingdui - New Archaeological Discoveries in Sichuan" in late 2023, mainly showcasing 120 precious cultural relics such as bronze, jade, gold, and pottery. It is reported that the Exhibition on Tracing the Origins of Chinese Civilization is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the China Cultural Relics Exchange Center, and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong), a strategic partner of the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
