Cloud based digital imaging makes cross hospital medical treatment more convenient
2024-08-22
In recent years, Jiangsu Province has been continuously promoting the construction of the provincial health cloud imaging platform, which enables mutual recognition of imaging examination results within the province. While patients can save time, effort, and money, doctors can also improve the efficiency and accuracy of diagnosis and treatment. This summer, a 3-year-old girl named Huanhuan (pseudonym) living in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, underwent a CT scan at a local hospital. The imaging results showed bone destruction, suspected bone tumors or poor bone fiber structure, which made her parents very nervous. The family immediately rushed to Nanjing Children's Hospital for consultation. Huanhuan's parents originally thought that they needed to perform another CT scan on their child for cross city medical treatment, but found that the doctor could directly access the imaging data taken by Huanhuan in Lianyungang on the computer, and the partial images could be enlarged and reduced, which was clearer than traditional physical film. After reviewing the images, the doctor quickly concluded that this was a normal phenomenon in children's development and did not require excessive intervention. This relieved Huanhuan's parents, who said, "This reform is very convenient for the people. It not only allows us to know the results as soon as possible, but also reduces the radiation exposure of children." Yang Ming, director of the Radiology Department of Nanjing Children's Hospital, introduced that infants, young children, and children are sensitive groups to radiation damage. By querying the cloud imaging platform, doctors can access the imaging examination data of patients who have undergone imaging examinations in public medical institutions and some private medical institutions throughout the province in recent years, helping them avoid unnecessary repeated imaging examinations. Our hospital has also added a QR code to the diagnosis report. Even if patients seek medical treatment outside the province, they can scan the code to view the images and reports of our hospital's imaging examinations, or send the QR code to experts for remote consultation, "Yang Ming said. During the interview, the reporter learned that the construction of the Jiangsu Health Cloud Imaging Platform not only facilitates cross hospital medical treatment for the public, but also effectively improves the quality control level of medical institutions and the accuracy of doctors' diagnoses. At the radiology reading room of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital, Director Wu Feiyun and colleagues are conducting medical imaging analysis. Wu Feiyun introduced that the case they are seeing is a female patient in her late seventies. After entering information on the Yunying imaging platform and obtaining authorization, they can query all the imaging examinations that the patient has done in the township health centers, county-level hospitals, and provincial people's hospitals in the province in recent years. At the same time, patients' test reports, medication records, medical orders and other information can be displayed on the platform, making it convenient for doctors to quickly understand the overall situation of patients. This patient has central nervous system lymphoma, and by comparing her previous imaging data, we can analyze the changes in the lesion over the years Wu Feiyun said that with the development of medical imaging technology, a single examination can generate thousands of images. Traditional film can only accommodate key angle images, while digital imaging can ensure the complete presentation of examination results and help doctors make more accurate judgments. According to Tang Kai, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Health Information Center, in recent years, in order to break through the "bottlenecks" for the public to seek medical treatment, Jiangsu has completed the construction of the Jiangsu Provincial Health Cloud Imaging Platform in public medical institutions and 106 private medical institutions throughout the province. Medical institutions connected to the platform can upload data to the platform within 30 minutes after completing imaging examinations and issuing imaging reports to patients. As of August 15th, the cloud imaging platform has achieved the storage of approximately 119.01 million reports, and doctors have accessed image data about 11.83 million times through workstations. Based on the operation of the cloud imaging platform since its full integration, it can save 2.24 billion yuan in imaging examination costs annually. At the same time, Jiangsu is actively promoting the intelligent application of imaging data, using artificial intelligence technology to carry out early screening of lung diseases, including tuberculosis, to help prevent and control disease transmission. Currently, 37951 positive chest X-rays from 60 community health service centers in the province have been reviewed by artificial intelligence. Tang Kai said that the more cases doctors see, the richer their experience, and the same goes for the cloud imaging platform. The more data and application scenarios there are, the more "smart" they become. Next, Jiangsu will continuously improve the various functions of the provincial health cloud imaging platform, develop more application scenarios according to service needs, enable information to "run more", reduce patients' errands, and provide reference for medical institutions to study the imaging characteristics, development patterns, treatment strategies, etc. of different diseases.
