From the Amur Tiger and Amur Leopard National Park, Sanjiangyuan National Park, Giant Panda National Park to Mount Wuyi National Park, Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park... From north to south, from the plateau to the rainforest, in the national parks, animals live leisurely and trees and grass grow luxuriantly. Since the official establishment of the first batch of national parks, the beautiful picture of ecological protection in China has been constantly unfolding. What achievements have been made in the construction of national parks so far? The excellent proportion of ecological benefit assessment indicators is 75%. On August 19th, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (National Park Management Bureau) organized a national park work promotion meeting in Beijing and released the latest data on the construction of the first batch of national parks. The results show that the excellent proportion of the first batch of national park scientific research platforms, international cooperation, and social participation evaluation indicators is over 90%; The excellent proportion of ecological benefit assessment indicators is 75%; The excellent proportion of science popularization education and social benefit evaluation indicators is 70% and 80%, respectively. The construction of national parks has accumulated a series of good experiences and practices in ecological protection and restoration, addressing historical legacy issues, strengthening the rule of law, coordinating ecological protection and community development, and has achieved significant results. In recent years, with the accelerated construction of national parks, the authenticity and integrity of ecosystems within protected areas have been effectively protected, and the population of flagship species has been restored. In Sanjiangyuan National Park, a series of ecological restoration projects have achieved overall protection of the headwaters of the Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Lancang River, and the Tibetan antelope population has been restored to over 70000. The Giant Panda National Park has implemented key ecological corridor construction, protecting over 70% of wild giant pandas. In Mount Wuyi National Park, a batch of flagship species, such as the national first-class protected wild animals, the Chinese pangolin and the black muntjac, have reappeared after more than 10 years, and 17 new species, such as the rain god horned toad, have been found. Benefiting more than 400 counties in 28 provinces, on October 12, 2021, China officially established the first batch of national parks, including Sanjiangyuan, Giant Panda, Amur Tiger and Amur Leopard, Hainan Tropical Rainforest, Mount Wuyi, with a protected area of 230000 square kilometers, covering nearly 30% of China's land national key protected wildlife species. The formal establishment of the first batch of national parks is a practical action taken by China to further increase its efforts in promoting natural ecological protection and biodiversity conservation. According to the National Park Spatial Layout Plan, China has planned and laid out 49 candidate areas for national parks, with a total area of approximately 1.1 million square kilometers, accounting for 10.3% of the land area and 110000 square kilometers of jurisdictional waters. These regions are home to over 5000 terrestrial vertebrates and 29000 species of higher plants, protecting more than 80% of nationally protected wildlife species and their habitats. The relevant person in charge of the National Forestry and Grass Administration said that through the construction of national parks, China will protect the areas with the most important natural ecosystem, the most unique natural landscape, the most essence of natural heritage, and the richest biodiversity, which will leave precious natural assets for future generations. The construction of national parks will benefit more than 400 counties in 28 provinces, forming a grand pattern of 56 ethnic groups sharing the ecological well-being of national parks. Comprehensively promoting the construction of a natural protected area system with national parks as the main body, from regulatory systems to technological means, a series of key tasks are being carried out in an orderly manner to promote the construction of national parks. In terms of legal construction, regulations, systems, and policy measures are continuously established and improved, promoting the formation of a national park management system led by the state, jointly built by the central and local governments, with equal rights and responsibilities, and clear responsibilities. Continuously exploring unified law enforcement forms for natural resources within national parks, and cracking down severely on illegal and criminal activities that damage wildlife and plant resources. In terms of technological protection, the national park perception system has been opened for use in the first batch of national parks, and the intelligent and digital construction of the first batch of national parks is accelerating. The integrated monitoring system of "sky ground" basically covers the entire area of Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park; The intelligent natural resource monitoring and management system is widely used in Sanjiangyuan and Mount Wuyi National Park. The National Park Work Promotion Conference requires that all regions comprehensively promote the construction of a natural protected area system with national parks as the main body. At the same time, efforts should be made to promote the construction of an efficient national park management system, promote the promulgation of national park laws, address historical legacy issues in a stable and orderly manner, organize and implement overall plans, and build an integrated monitoring system for the "sky and earth".
