"Before and after 2015, more than 40000 fishermen washed their feet and landed on the mudflat through aquaculture and dredging, and the amount of dredging in the mudflat was more than 200 million cubic meters." Wang Hetuan, director of the Ecological Environment Bureau of Tong'an District, said that compared with before the renovation, the tide holding capacity of Tong'an Bay increased by more than 40 million cubic meters, the exchange capacity of water bodies in the sea area increased by about 30%, and the lost marine life also gradually reappeared. Tong'an Bay has a superior geographical location. On the basis of ecological environment improvement and restoration, Xiamen City launched the construction of the Binhai Ecological New City in 2017, and simultaneously started the construction of the Binhai Tourism Romantic Line. During the construction, we have restored several kilometers of artificial beaches with an average width of over 100 meters along the coast; set up dikes to protect marine ecology and fix sand, and planted mangroves outside the dams to create an ecological landscape, "said Wang Hetuan. In response to the construction needs of the coastal tourism romantic line, the local area has also built facilities along the coastline in the new city construction, including marathon tracks, lawns, stadiums, the East Coast Bathing Beach, the Art Coast Square, and high-end hotels. Starting from ecological environment governance and restoration, the construction of the East Coast Tourist Romantic Line is the result of a three-dimensional and systematic project implemented under the guidance of the concept of green and high-quality development Yu Xingguang, former director of the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, said that in recent years, ecological corridors connecting mountains, lakes, and the sea have also been built in the development of new cities. The key technology innovation industries introduced and cultivated in the park are also part of it. Developing towards the bay, gathering around the bay, and forming a clustered layout, the Tong'an New City area has now formed a coastal new city that integrates business, office, living, industrial production, and vacation and leisure. More than 400 enterprises have settled in industrial parks such as Meifeng Chuanggu and Yincheng Zhigu in this area. With the construction of ecological new cities and the continuous enrichment of coastal tourism formats, the romantic tourism route around the east coast has become a "new landmark" for Xiamen tourism.
