With the slow departure of China's self-developed full section hard rock tunnel boring machine "Bay Area Light", the Shenzhen Baishiling Tunnel, a mountain tunnel dedicated to natural gas pipelines in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, has recently been fully connected, laying the foundation for the subsequent laying of natural gas pipelines. This is also the longest mountain tunnel dedicated to oil and gas pipelines in China. It is reported that the Baishiling Natural Gas Pipeline Adjustment Project is a key project for the construction of a comprehensive national science center in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, with a total length of 6.35 kilometers. Among them, the Baishiling Tunnel has a total length of 6.1 kilometers and is a key control project along the entire line. After the completion of the Baishiling regional natural gas pipeline adjustment project, the existing high consequence area inventory of the pipeline will be reduced, public safety along the pipeline will be improved, and the safety risks of cross management between the construction and operation period of the high-speed train station and the current natural gas pipeline will be avoided. This not only lays a solid foundation for the construction of Xilihu International Science and Education City, but also provides an important carrier for technological innovation in Shenzhen and even the Greater Bay Area. According to Chen Songlin, the project leader of China Railway 18th Bureau, the Baishiling Tunnel passes through 8 fault fracture zones. The tunnel has high rock strength, multiple fault structural zones, and large water inflow, making the construction difficult. To ensure construction safety, the project team used a full section hard rock tunnel boring machine with a diameter of 5.33 meters for construction, effectively reducing rock disturbance during tunnel excavation, improving construction efficiency and quality, and ensuring the safe and smooth passage of the tunnel. It is reported that after the completion of the Baishiling natural gas pipeline adjustment project, it will further improve the energy corridor of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, which is of great significance for ensuring regional natural gas energy supply, helping to build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, and promoting high-quality development of regional economy and society.
