The unmanned emergency rescue system for tunnels that can work independently without satellite signals has been successfully developed

2024-08-12

On August 9th, it was learned from the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation that Aerospace Science and Industry Simulation Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Second Department of the Academy, has successively overcome key technologies such as tunnel autonomous navigation, radar detection and obstacle avoidance, autonomous route planning, tunnel communication transmission, and ultra-low altitude fire extinguishing, and successfully developed a tunnel unmanned emergency rescue system with independent intellectual property rights. Experts from the Second Department of the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation stated that compared to highway rescue, tunnel emergency rescue faces challenges such as complex terrain, decreased perception conditions, lack of satellite signal support, limited access to the site, and lack of navigation methods. This unmanned emergency rescue system for tunnels enables autonomous navigation in tunnels without satellite signals, intelligent identification and positioning of fire sources and personnel, precise deployment of rescue equipment or firefighting materials, and rapid disposal in the early stages of a fire. It solves the problems of no satellite signals, road congestion, and inability to timely obtain accident site conditions and respond quickly when a fire occurs in highway tunnels. At present, this system has completed tunnel autonomous navigation, autonomous obstacle avoidance, and fire extinguishing bomb deployment tests, verifying the flight stability of drones in special environments such as narrow tunnels and lack of satellite navigation signals. It will be promoted and used in various emergency rescue scenarios such as highway fire fighting in the future. (New Society)
