Li Qiang stated that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Italy. Over the past 20 years, political mutual trust between the two sides has been continuously consolidated, pragmatic cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and the scale of trade and investment has continued to expand, truly benefiting the people of both countries. China is willing to agree to work together to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, inherit and carry forward the friendly tradition between the two countries, comprehensively promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields, bring more benefits to the people of the two countries, and make greater contributions to promoting global peace and development.
Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to agree to further strengthen political mutual trust, promote the development of bilateral relations towards a more mature and stable direction, and provide more positive expectations for deepening cooperation between the two countries. Both sides should make good use of the China Italy Government Committee and dialogue platforms in various fields, continuously expand the scale of bilateral trade, promote trade optimization and development, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in shipbuilding, aerospace, new energy, artificial intelligence and other fields, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, jointly organize a series of commemorative activities related to the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death, and continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in cultural, artistic, film and education fields. The Chinese side supports Chinese enterprises to cooperate in Italy and hopes that Italy can provide a fair, safe, and non discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises, and provide more convenience for Chinese citizens to travel to Italy. Protectionism cannot protect competitiveness, only open cooperation can bring mutual benefit and win-win results. We hope that the EU will objectively and rationally view China's development, adhere to its partnership positioning, deepen dialogue and cooperation, promote stable and healthy development of China EU relations, and jointly address global challenges.
Meloni stated that in recent years, the close high-level and various level exchanges between the two countries have effectively promoted the development of Italy China relations. Italy is committed to developing long-term stable and good relations with China, and is willing to deepen practical cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, industry, science and technology, and humanities with China. Taking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and the commemoration of the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death as an opportunity, Italy will build a bridge of friendship, explore new ways of cooperation, unleash cooperation potential, build a closer cooperative relationship, and promote the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Italy is willing to play a positive role in promoting open dialogue and building a more stable cooperative relationship between Europe and China.
After the meeting, the two prime ministers jointly witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents in industry, education, environmental protection, geographical indications, food safety, and other areas.
Before the meeting, Li Qiang held a welcoming ceremony for Meloni in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
