The "Carbon Capture Block CarbonBox" was developed by a research and development team consisting of China Energy Engineering Group's China Energy Engineering (Shanghai) Complete Engineering Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and has completely independent intellectual property rights. This research and development achievement fills the gap in China's field of ultra large tonnage and high concentration industrial grade DAC engineering equipment, marking an important breakthrough in China's direct air capture technology for carbon dioxide. DAC is an emerging carbon capture technology that utilizes low-carbon energy sources such as wind, solar, and geothermal energy to directly capture carbon dioxide from the air and achieve net negative emissions of carbon dioxide The head of the R&D team, Julie Jun, introduced that the "Carbon Capture Block CarbonBox" adopts a high-performance capture device with high selectivity and fast adsorption kinetics independently developed by the team, which can efficiently capture carbon dioxide directly from the air or different concentration emission sources, and directly output different concentrations of carbon dioxide according to the requirements of downstream applications. A single module can directly capture 99% of high concentration carbon dioxide exceeding 100 tons annually from the air. It is reported that the "Carbon Capture Block CarbonBox" consists of a capture unit and a processing unit, each of which is the size of a container. The module can be directly lifted on site without the need for secondary assembly. At the same time, the device can also be designed with stacked capture units and centralized processing units according to engineering requirements. Through standardized group integration, the annual carbon dioxide capture scale can reach millions of tons. We focus on the global challenge of high energy consumption and high cost in DAC, and have achieved the design goal of carbon dioxide capture energy consumption through innovative design of capture device structure, precise optimization of process flow, and research and development of core components.
