On July 18th local time, the China Laos "Friendship Shield 2024" joint exercise launched a full process and all element joint live fire exercise, enhancing the joint command and joint action capabilities of the two armies. The joint live fire exercise was held at the Kumadan Academy training ground of the Lao People's Army. Chinese and Laotian participating officers and soldiers focused on the topic of "joint defense operations" and divided it into five stages: reconnaissance deployment, joint resistance, multiple strong strikes, joint clearance, and ending the battle. They completed multiple exercises including drone countermeasures, joint fire counterattacks, airborne assaults, and battlefield first aid. The drone reconnaissance team has discovered that armed personnel are gathering near Hill 5 At the beginning of the drill, the reconnaissance intelligence team quickly dispatched unmanned aerial vehicles to scout the target stronghold and promptly reported the relevant situation to the command group, providing strong intelligence support for subsequent actions. In this joint performance, various unmanned equipment including reconnaissance and combat integrated drones, explosive ordnance disposal robots, and tracked unmanned vehicles appeared at the training ground, testing the level of manned unmanned collaborative combat. At the scene of the drone countermeasure course, the author witnessed that when an "enemy" drone attempted to launch an attack, a mixed anti drone fleet consisting of both China and Laos acted quickly and accurately destroyed the "enemy" drone according to their division of labor. During the joint resistance phase, the participating troops of China and Laos practiced live ammunition shooting with various weapons and equipment such as infantry fighting vehicles, vehicle mounted rapid fire mortars, grenade launchers, etc., honing the joint firepower strike capability of the two armies. To enhance the joint combat capability of land and air, both China and Laos dispatched helicopters to conduct joint exercises with infantry, engineering troops, and medical support forces, including blockade operations, airborne assaults, and casualty evacuation. After the joint live fire exercise, the closing ceremony of this joint exercise will be held. Leaders from both China and Laos delivered speeches at the closing ceremony and presented honor certificates and commemorative medals to outstanding participating officers and soldiers. Both sides unanimously stated that this joint exercise is designed and organized around the practical issue of regional security, reflecting the determination and will of the Chinese and Lao militaries to maintain regional security and stability, deepening military cooperation between the two sides, and consolidating the traditional friendship between the two countries' militaries.
