On July 12th, Guangdong and Hong Kong signed a new round of "Guangdong Hong Kong Food Safety Work Exchange and Cooperation Agreement" in Guangzhou. This is an important measure to further expand the channels of food safety exchange and cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and promote the establishment of a food safety coordination mechanism in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, based on the relevant agreements signed in 2015, combined with the changes in the food safety situation and the latest practical work in Guangdong and Hong Kong. The food safety regulatory departments of Guangdong and Hong Kong will take the signing of the agreement as an opportunity to continue strengthening cooperation in food safety information dissemination, risk monitoring, emergency response, and other aspects. They will also add new content such as the construction of food "bay area standards" and support for Nansha's deep integration into the Greater Bay Area food safety exchange and cooperation. Guangdong and Hong Kong share the same cultural heritage, are closely related in terms of popularity and customs, and have many similarities in food consumption varieties, habits, and consumption levels. The common demand for high-quality and safe food among the people is relatively high. In recent years, the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation has continued to promote the deepening of regional food safety exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, maintaining close communication with the Hong Kong food safety regulatory authorities, timely reporting relevant food safety information, conducting multiple food safety exchange activities, organizing food safety regulatory personnel and representatives of the food industry from Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area to conduct research and discussions in Guangdong, and jointly exploring ways to enhance the regional food safety protection capabilities in combination with the food safety regulations and systems of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao are vigorously promoting the construction of "Bay Area Standards" and "Bay Area Certification". Currently, 183 "Bay Area Standards" have been jointly released, including 53 "Bay Area Standards" for food, covering more than 100 types of food that are consumed by the general public in daily life, such as grains, oil, meat, eggs, milk, fruits, vegetables, etc; We have jointly developed 32 "Bay Area Certification" projects and issued 17 "Bay Area Certification" certificates, covering the fields of agricultural and food products. Relevant products have entered some chain supermarkets and restaurants, achieving simultaneous listing in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Next, the food safety regulatory departments of Guangdong and Hong Kong will strengthen communication and liaison in accordance with the agreement framework, continuously enhance the interconnection of food safety risk information, increase the scope of exchange and cooperation, and jointly enhance the high-level governance capacity of food safety in Guangdong and Hong Kong by continuously promoting the connection of food regulatory rules and mechanisms between the two regions, and promote the high-quality development of the food industry in the Greater Bay Area.
