Recently, the 24th meeting of the Guangdong Hong Kong Cooperation Joint Conference was held in Guangzhou. At the meeting, Guangdong and Hong Kong signed multiple cooperation agreements. The author has learned that currently, Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao have jointly released 183 "Bay Area Standards". Among them, the Guangdong Hong Kong Cooperation Agreement on Quality and Testing Certification is committed to jointly promoting cooperation in the fields of quality, standards, metrology, testing and certification in the next five years. In addition, Guangdong and Hong Kong have signed a new round of the "Guangdong Hong Kong Food Safety Work Exchange and Cooperation Agreement", which is an important measure to further expand the channels of food safety exchange and cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and promote the establishment of a food safety coordination mechanism in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area based on the relevant agreements signed in 2015, combined with the changes in the food safety situation and the latest practical work in Guangdong and Hong Kong. According to the "Cooperation Agreement on Quality and Testing Certification Work between Guangdong and Hong Kong", in the next five years, Guangdong and Hong Kong will carry out in-depth cooperation on seven specific tasks, including information exchange and sharing of quality and testing certification services, strengthening international standard exchange and cooperation, carrying out laboratory measurement capability verification activities, promoting high-quality inspection and testing certification services, implementing advanced quality management methods, and promoting the exchange of scientific and technological talents. This will provide stronger support for the high-quality economic and social development of Guangdong and Hong Kong, and help create a dynamic and internationally competitive first-class bay area and world-class city cluster. In recent years, Guangdong and Hong Kong have vigorously promoted the work of "Bay Area Standards" and "Bay Area Certification". The three regions of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao have announced 183 "Bay Area Standards" covering 32 fields including food, Cantonese cuisine, traditional Chinese medicine, transportation, logistics, and elderly care. Nearly a hundred "Bay Area Standard" demonstration stores have been established, and over a thousand enterprises in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao have declared the use of "Bay Area Standards", effectively promoting the circulation of essential resources in the Greater Bay Area. It is reported that the food safety regulatory departments of Guangdong and Hong Kong will take the signing of the "Guangdong Hong Kong Food Safety Work Exchange and Cooperation Agreement" as an opportunity to continue to strengthen cooperation in food safety information dissemination, risk monitoring, emergency response, and other aspects. They will also add new content such as the construction of food "Bay Area Standards" and support for Nansha's deep integration into food safety exchange and cooperation in the Greater Bay Area. Guangdong and Hong Kong share the same cultural heritage, are closely related in terms of popularity and customs, and have many similarities in food consumption varieties, habits, and consumption levels. The common demand for high-quality and safe food among the people is relatively high. In recent years, the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Bureau has continuously promoted the deepening of regional food safety exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and jointly explored ways to enhance the level of regional food safety protection capabilities by combining food safety regulations and systems in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. At present, among the 183 "Bay Area Standards" jointly released by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, there are a total of 53 "Bay Area Standards" for food, covering more than 100 types of food that people consume daily, such as grains, oil, meat, eggs, milk, fruits, vegetables, etc; We have jointly developed 32 "Bay Area Certification" projects and issued 17 "Bay Area Certification" certificates, covering the fields of agricultural and food products.
