The opening ceremony of the 2024 Hong Kong Macao Mainland Youth Legal Exchange Week, hosted by the China Law Society, was held in Beijing on the 8th. Nearly 60 law students and young lawyers from Hong Kong and Macau will participate in a series of legal related exchange activities in Beijing and Nanjing in the next week. At the opening ceremony, Zhang Mingqi, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Law Society, delivered a speech, inviting young people from Hong Kong and Macao to visit and exchange ideas in Beijing and Nanjing. The purpose is to deepen everyone's understanding of the mainland, promote dialogue and exchange between Hong Kong and Macao and young people from the mainland, enhance understanding and deepen friendship, and jointly create a better tomorrow for the great motherland. I hope everyone can cultivate a strong sense of patriotism and become defenders and disseminators of patriotism; Always maintain confidence in the "One Country, Two Systems" system and be a defender and defender of the Constitution and the Basic Law; Actively integrate into the overall situation of national development and become a practitioner and contributor of Chinese path to modernization. Deng Zhonghua, President of the National Hong Kong and Macao Research Association, delivered a speech stating that Hong Kong and Macao legal youth are the future of Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the future of the country. I hope everyone can inherit the fine tradition of patriotism, love for Hong Kong and love for Macao, and consciously walk with the motherland and the times; Firmly safeguarding the rule of law and becoming a reserve and new force for the rule of law in Hong Kong and Macao; Actively integrating into the overall development of the country, contributing the wisdom of the rule of law and the strength of youth to the construction of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the nation. I believe that Hong Kong and Macao legal youth will surely demonstrate new responsibilities, new achievements, and new atmosphere in the new era, singing the song of youth and writing a wonderful life on the new journey of building a strong country and national rejuvenation. Hong Kong student representative, Hong Kong University student Li Yinglin, and Macau student representative, as well as Macau University student Li Yingyi, also gave speeches. They expressed their hope to use this exchange week as a starting point to gain a better understanding of the development trends of the country and the world, learn more experience, and strive to contribute to the construction of the rule of law in the motherland and the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao. After the opening ceremony, Zhang Yong, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Committees of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, gave a special report to the students on "The Constitution and the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao - Institutions and Practice". During their stay in Beijing, the organizers will organize students to visit the Central Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, the Supreme People's Court, law firms, and hold symposiums. During their stay in Nanjing, students will pay homage to Zhongshan Mausoleum, visit Sun Yat sen Memorial Hall, Nanjing Constitution Park, and other places. The "Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland Youth Legal Exchange Week" has been successfully held for 16 consecutive years since its launch in 2008, becoming an important platform for legal exchanges between Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland youth.
