The Sino French Astronomical Satellite has successfully detected three gamma storms after completing the payload startup test

Reporters learned from the Chinese Academy of Sciences on July 8 that the launch test of the Sino French astronomical satellite was successfully completed within two weeks after its successful launch, and important detection results were achieved - the first three gamma bursts were successfully detected, and the coordinates of the three gamma bursts have been released to the International General Cooperation Network (GCN). According to the Sino French Astronomical Satellite Project Team of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Sino French Astronomical Satellite (also known as "space-based multi band space variable source monitor", abbreviated as SVOM) was launched on June 22. The gamma ray monitor developed by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on board was officially launched on June 24; On June 27th, the detector high voltage was activated for in orbit testing. The gamma ray monitor successfully captured the first gamma ray burst (number GRB240627B) on the same day, which was the first scientific exploration achievement of the Sino French astronomical satellite in orbit. After comparison between the Institute of Micro Satellite Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences/the image provided, the light variation curve of the gamma ray burst is the same as that observed by the "Polar" Space Telescope (GECAM-C) on the first launch of China's Innovation X, and is also highly consistent with the observation results of the Fermi satellite detector in the world. Subsequently, the gamma ray monitor successfully detected the second gamma burst (GRB240629A) and the third gamma burst (GRB240702A) on June 29th and July 2nd, respectively. The results of the first three detected gamma storms have been submitted to the international collaborative network, which not only fully verifies the high-precision triggering detection ability of the Sino French astronomical satellite gamma ray monitor payload for gamma storms, but also helps humanity solve several major problems in basic science. As an important international cooperation project between China and France in the field of space science, the Sino French Astronomical Satellite is currently the satellite with the strongest multi band comprehensive observation capability for gamma storms worldwide. The satellite was developed by the Institute of Microsatellite Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, integrating four payloads developed by China and France, including gamma ray monitors, hard X-ray cameras, soft X-ray telescopes, and optical telescopes. The observation band covers the high-energy to near-infrared bands. After in orbit testing, the satellite platform is working normally, and real-time connections have been established between the satellite and more than 40 very high frequency (VHF) fast communication stations on the ground. All four payloads have completed power on testing. Among them, from June 22nd to 24th, the satellite platform, satellite ground measurement and control, data transmission, very high frequency and other link tests were successfully completed. The satellite platform worked stably, and the functions and performance of each subsystem met the task requirements and met the load testing conditions. The optical telescope load developed by the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was started on June 24, and the motion mechanism test, imaging test and flat field calibration test were completed on June 27. The results indicate that the motion mechanism function, detector imaging, and calibration of the optical telescope are all at a normal level. At present, the optical telescope is still in the anti pollution mode after entering orbit, and detection performance testing will be carried out after the decontamination is completed. The hard X-ray camera and soft X-ray telescope, led by the French Space Research Center, started operating on June 25th and entered configuration mode on July 1st according to the testing plan. It is planned to complete the payload self inspection test in the next few days and will enter the payload trial operation phase in the future. It is understood that in the next stage, the Sino French astronomical satellite will complete various test tasks in the Integrated Operation and Control Center of Scientific Satellite of the Chinese Academy of Sciences according to the on orbit test plan and process, and carry out load calibration and business operation test as soon as possible. It is expected that in August, the Sino French astronomical satellite will enter the observation test of scientific tasks, making continuous contributions to the exploration and scientific research in space astronomy fields such as gamma storms.
