The opening ceremony of the 2024 Spanish Chinese Literature Week and the themed salon "Literature, Making Life Better" were held on June 29 in the southern city of Seville, Spain, with the aim of promoting the integration and mutual learning of Chinese and Western literary cultures. More than a hundred guest representatives, writers, and sinologists from both countries attended. Hu Kaihong, the full-time deputy director of the Central Office of Spiritual Civilization Construction, emphasized in his speech the profound history of cultural exchanges between China and the West, as well as the important role of literature in promoting spiritual communication between the two peoples. He expressed the hope that through exchange activities, writers from both countries can provide a platform for mutual understanding, allowing Spanish readers to experience Chinese literature and culture, and further enhancing the friendship between the two peoples. Seville Deputy Mayor Pimentel stated that Seville has rich cultural resources and hopes to hold more exchange activities in the future to promote the relationship between China and Spain, so that both sides can have a deeper understanding of each other. Chinese Ambassador to Spain Qu Xun pointed out that Chinese and Western civilizations have always been mutually beneficial and attractive, serving as a model of cultural exchange, mutual learning, and common development. The Vice Chairman of Spain's "Zhihua Lecture Hall", Groci, said that the organization is willing to continue to work towards promoting cultural exchange between West and China. This Spanish Chinese Literature Week is hosted by China Publishing Group Co., Ltd. and Zhihua Lecture Hall in Spain, and will be held in Seville, Granada, and Barcelona. The Chinese side also donated high-quality books to four institutions, including the Seville National Public Library, Seville Chinese School, the Confucius Institute at the University of Granada, and the Barcelona Confucius Institute Foundation.
