The 2024 Cross Strait Youth Summit, jointly hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Education, the All China Youth Federation, and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, opened in Beijing on the 3rd. Approximately 600 people from all walks of life and youth representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Strait attended the opening ceremony.
Beijing has close ties with Taiwan, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields between Beijing and Taiwan continue to deepen. Exchange and cooperation are conducive to the development of youth on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the economic growth on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. This is the aspiration and trend of the people. In today's world, the century long changes are accelerating, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the common aspiration of the Chinese people and an unstoppable historical trend. I hope that young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait can cultivate ethnic friendship and become leaders in cross-strait exchanges and exchanges; Deepen integrated development and contribute to the modernization of both sides of the Taiwan Strait; Bravely shoulder the heavy responsibility of the times and work together as promoters of peaceful reunification across the Taiwan Strait.
We should seize the historical opportunity to actively participate in cross Straits exchanges and cooperation, integration and development, and become a participant, witness and beneficiary of Chinese path to modernization; We must bravely shoulder the heavy responsibility of history, take the reunification of the motherland and the rejuvenation of the nation as our own responsibility, and take full responsibility for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, so that our youth can shine brilliantly in dedication.
During his speech, Xu Xiao, Chairman of the All China Youth Federation, stated that youth are the most sensitive barometer of the times and the social force leading the trend. We must deeply understand the profound principles of the indivisibility of national territory, the indivisibility of the country, the indivisibility of the nation, and the indivisibility of civilization, and inspire our youthful aspirations in the journey of peaceful reunification of the motherland; To deeply understand that the youth on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are a family with a shared destiny, and to move towards innovation and entrepreneurship, volunteer public welfare, and other fields, showcasing their youthful spirit in promoting spiritual harmony; We should have a deep understanding of the broad stage and valuable opportunities that Chinese path to modernization brings to the development of youth on both sides of the Straits, identify the joint points of cooperation between the two sides of the Straits, and contribute to the integration and development of youth on both sides of the Straits.
Former Chairman of the Kuomintang, Ma Ying jeou, delivered a video speech, expressing that young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait should deepen exchanges, learn from each other, and work together to create a better future for the Chinese nation. Both young people from Taiwan and mainland China are Chinese and should encourage and help each other, focusing on economic and technological fields, and working together to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The theme of this summit is "Advancing into a New Era with Handdrawn Youth". It will hold youth exchange activities such as the main forum, sub forums, Taiwan Youth Internship and Employment Promotion Conference, Beijing Taiwan Youth Life Festival, and Cross Strait Youth Digital Music Night. Since the establishment of the summit, more than 150 exchange activities have been held, attracting more than 6000 young friends to participate. It has become an important platform for cross-strait youth to exchange and grow together.
