On July 1st, the Fengyun-3 F-star (hereinafter referred to as "F-star") was officially put into business operation. On June 28th, F satellite passed the ground and application system in orbit testing summary review and business trial operation, and is ready for formal business operation. F-star is the seventh satellite in the Fengyun-3 series and also the third sun synchronous morning orbit satellite in the Fengyun-3 series. It was successfully launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on August 3, 2023, and launched in orbit testing on October 23 of the same year. F-star is equipped with 10 operational instruments, which can significantly improve the observation accuracy of vertical profiles of high temperature and humidity, atmospheric trace gases, and Earth's radiation budget energy while observing the global atmosphere and surface environment through full spectrum, hyperspectral, and quantitative observations. After the operation of the F-star business, it will take over the Fengyun-3 C-star and carry out comprehensive detection of the global earth and atmosphere system. During the orbit testing and trial operation of F satellite, the satellite ground system operated stably and was in good condition, and the testing progress was smooth. In late January 2024, large-scale snowfall occurred in the eastern and northeastern regions of Inner Mongolia, northern and northwestern China, as well as heavy snowfall in Xinjiang. Recently, monitoring services for weather processes such as heavy precipitation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River have played a good application role. According to the deployment, F satellite will quickly network with other in orbit wind and cloud meteorological satellites to fully leverage its collaborative observation advantages and support precision monitoring services.
