On the afternoon of June 30th, the launching ceremony and 2023 award ceremony of the Chongqing branch of the "Telling the Story of China" Creative Communication International Competition were held at the Huxi Campus of Chongqing University. Ma Shengrong, former vice president and executive vice editor in chief of Xinhua News Agency, Min Lingchao, deputy director of China Internet News Center, Li Jie, director of the Foreign Information Department of the Publicity Department of Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, Ling Xiaoming, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Journalism of Chongqing University, Guo Xiao'an, president of the School of Journalism of Chongqing University, Dong Tiance, president of the Digital Media and Communication Research Institute of Chongqing University, Li Haoyang, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Party Working Committee of Chongqing Hi tech Zone, and deputy director of the Financial Media Center, and other guests attended the ceremony. Guo Xiao'an stated in his speech that telling the story of China well is not only a responsibility, but also a mission. We should all become storytellers and disseminators of Chinese stories, using our language, actions, and attitudes to convey the voice of China to the world and showcase China's credible, lovely, and respectable three-dimensional image. We should pay attention to the authenticity and infectiousness of the story, touch people's hearts with real stories, warm them with touching stories, and let more people understand and fall in love with China. Li Jie stated in his speech that the great era nurtures great stories, and the wonderful China needs to be told brilliantly. He said that telling a good Chinese story requires putting effort into being truthful, three-dimensional, and comprehensive, delving into the "highlights" of the story and enhancing its appeal; The second is to see practical results in credibility, cuteness, and respect, highly focusing on the "characteristics" of the story, and enhancing the dissemination power of the Chinese voice; The third is to seek innovation in socialization, videoization, and mobility, to better present the highlights of the story and enhance the influence of Chinese culture. In his speech, Min Lingchao stated that telling good Chinese stories is of great significance for the world to understand China and showcase a trustworthy, lovely, and respectable image of China. It is necessary to enhance external awareness, tell stories truthfully, and make good Chinese stories vivid and directly reach people's hearts. Min Lingchao introduced three basic ideas for the 2024 "Telling a Good Story of China" Creative Communication International Competition: firstly, setting themes closely related to the characteristics of the times and reflecting an international perspective; Secondly, we will continue to promote widespread participation and amplify the platform's aggregation efficiency; Thirdly, we need to expand communication channels and build a three-dimensional communication pattern through integrated media. In his keynote speech, Ma Shengrong shared his years of experience as a war correspondent, sports journalist, and current affairs journalist. He believed that "telling good stories about China" is not just about telling good stories about China. The "stories" in "telling good stories about China" include good stories, bad stories, and unsatisfactory stories. We must adhere to the concept of seeking truth from facts in communication, and let foreign friends understand the comprehensive and three-dimensional China. Dong Tiance put forward his own opinions on the construction of national image and the enhancement of national soft power in his keynote speech. He stated that we should stand at the height of building a community with a shared future for mankind, accommodate different civilizations, exchange and learn from each other, seek common ground while reserving differences, and at the same time, take the socialist core values as the criterion, tell the story of China well and spread the voice of China well. At the award ceremony, Li Haoyang announced the list of winners for "Telling a Good Story of China" in 2023, and 15 works including "Local Foreigners" won national awards. 50 excellent works from various units won awards in the Chongqing branch competition. Dong Guannan, a journalist from the School of Journalism at Chongqing University and the Western International Communication Center, shared his creative experience on site as an award-winning representative. It is understood that the "Telling the Story of China" Creative Communication International Competition has been held six times so far, with more than 20 local sub stations, 13 theme competitions, and 4 special competitions held in provinces and cities such as Beijing, Hubei, Hunan, Zhejiang, and Hainan. It has attracted many participants from all over the country, as well as countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, and Japan, achieving fruitful results, and the social influence of the competition continues to increase.
