The "Polar" icebreaker survey ship built by China Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Shipbuilding International for the Beihai Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China was delivered in Guangzhou on the 24th. The ship started construction in November 2022 and is a new generation of polar scientific research vessel independently designed and built by China. It meets the navigation needs of unlimited navigation areas and has obtained the PC6 polar ice level additional mark. It is also the first ship with the "ACC-POLAR" low-temperature cold protection symbol issued by China Classification Society (CCS). In winter, it can sail in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea areas of China for monitoring and investigating the marine environment in ice areas, while also providing assistance in ice areas. At the same time, it has the ability to conduct scientific research in polar waters in summer. The "Polar" icebreaker survey vessel has a captain of 89.95 meters, a width of 17.8 meters, a depth of 8.2 meters, and a designed speed of 15 knots. The total tonnage of the ship is 4600 tons, with a range of 14000 nautical miles. One replenishment can ensure that the entire ship has 60 people living at sea for 80 days. The ship is equipped with various marine survey equipment and can undertake comprehensive observation and investigation tasks of marine environments such as sea ice, three-dimensional water bodies, geophysics, and atmosphere. The ship adopts a fully rotating electric propulsion system and is equipped with a channel type side thrust, dynamic positioning system, and anti roll system, making it more flexible and flexible during navigation, berthing, and scientific investigations. Meanwhile, this is a marine acoustic environment friendly survey vessel. It is reported that after delivery, the ship will mainly serve the improvement of China's ability to prevent and reduce marine disasters such as sea ice, and further enrich China's ice research system, assisting in the comprehensive observation and investigation of polar oceans, sea ice, atmosphere and other environments.
