The reporter learned from the Three Gorges Navigation Administration of the Yangtze River that as of June 18, 2024, the Three Gorges Lock has operated a total of 204300 locks, with 1.0353 million ships passing through, 12.2617 million passengers passing through, and a total cargo volume of 2.077 billion tons passing through the lock, effectively supporting the safe and smooth operation of the Yangtze River's golden waterway. It is reported that the Three Gorges Ship Lock is the world's most continuous series, highest total head and inter stage water transfer head, and the most technically complex inland ship lock. Since the opening of the Three Gorges Shiplock to the public for navigation in 2003, with the booming development of the economy and society along the Yangtze River, the improvement of the waterway and port conditions in the reservoir area, and the further release of logistics demand for bulk commodities such as energy, building materials, and ores, the volume of cargo passing through the lock has been steadily increasing. The Three Gorges Navigation Management Bureau of the Yangtze River adheres to innovation and leadership, optimizes scheduling and organization, implements joint matching operation of two dam locks and ship elevators, explores the application of measures such as "Luojing gear shifting method" and "virtual lock chamber", implements four level operation at a water level of 156 meters, vigorously promotes the standardization of ships passing through locks, and develops a large herringbone gate synchronous lifting system to assist in rapid maintenance. The daily operation of the Three Gorges Ship Lock has been increased from 23 locks to 31 locks, the draft control standard has been increased from 3.3 meters to 4.3 meters, and the average actual load tonnage of a single lock has been increased from 3140 tons to 15264 tons.
