The academic seminar on the fourth anniversary of the promulgation of the Civil Code was recently held in Beijing. This seminar is hosted by the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, organized by the Private Law Research Center of the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and co organized by the Beijing Association for Legal Affairs in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. More than 90 experts, scholars, and practitioners from the Legal Work Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and more than 30 universities and research institutions across the country conducted in-depth discussions on major difficult issues in the application of the Civil Code. The opening ceremony was presided over by Xie Hongfei, Vice President of the Civil Law Research Association of the Chinese Law Society and Director of the Civil Law Research Office of the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Mo Jihong, Secretary of the Joint Party Committee and Director of the Institute of International Law at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, fully affirmed the important significance of the seminar for the effective implementation of the Civil Code in his speech, and pointed out the need to further strengthen research on the relationship between the Constitution and the Civil Code, as well as the relationship between the Civil Code and other departmental laws. Sun Xianzhong, a member of the academic department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a first-class researcher at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out in his speech that the successful compilation of the Civil Code is a major event in China's rule of law construction. The Civil Code is an important milestone in China's rule of law construction, and is a fundamental, expected, and long-term fundamental law. As one of the five units participating in the compilation of the Civil Code, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences actively participates in the work of civil code compilation. The Civil Code Compilation Research Group of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has played an important role in the process of civil code compilation. At present, the important task of the civil law academic community is to conduct in-depth research on the interpretation and application of the Civil Code, and promote the correct implementation of the Civil Code. At the same time, any law needs to be continuously improved, and research on improving the code should also be carried out as soon as possible. In the thematic presentation section, Sun Xianzhong, Vice President of the Civil Law Research Association of the China Law Society and Professor Han Shiyuan of the Law School of Tsinghua University, Professor Zhang Gu of the Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University, Dean of the School of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law of the China University of Political Science and Law Yu, and Professor Li Yu of the Law School of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics each gave their main reports with titles of "Civil Law Reflection on the Formulation of State owned Assets Law", "Current Situation and Future Image of Change of Circumstances", "Contract Freedom in Difficulties", "The Function of Socialist Core Values in Civil Judgments", and "Inheritance of the General Principles of Civil Law in the Era of Civil Code".
