Lai Cheng Loong, born in September 1963 in Chiang Hwa Province, Vietnam, was a member of the 12th and 13th Central Committees of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He began serving as the Minister of Justice of Vietnam in April 2016. After the death of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Lai Van Cheng on August 22 last year, a position of Deputy Prime Minister has remained vacant in the Vietnamese government. On the 6th, the 7th meeting of the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam also elected Nguyen Thi ching, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and director of the National Assembly Representative Working Committee, as the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and approved the appointment of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security Leung San kwong as the Minister of Public Security.
