The ponytail and silk thread intertwine, outlining exquisite contours on the fabric. Colorful embroidery threads cleverly fill in it, creating a three-dimensional and colorful relief texture between flying needles and threads... At the Intangible Cultural Heritage Project Experience Center in Sandu Shui Autonomous County, Guizhou Province, the scene of Yang Mei, the non genetic inheritor of Shui ethnic ponytail embroidery, making the ponytail embroidery was recently recorded by the filming team of "Mainland Discovery" in Taiwan. On May 21st, the filming team of "Mainland China's Adventures" in Taiwan filmed the production of horsetail embroidery in Sandu Shui Autonomous County, Guizhou Province. "I came here to shoot horsetail embroidery, hoping to let more Taiwanese audiences understand this skill and experience the unique charm of aquatic culture." Lai Xuanfu, the director of Taiwan's "Searching for Strange Things in the Mainland", said. Horse tail embroidery is an embroidery technique that uses the sideburns of a horse tail as the raw material for embroidery threads. Due to its long history, it is known as the "living fossil" of embroidery and was included in China's first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006. Embroidery gap, Yang Mei introduced that traditional ponytail embroidery mainly uses red and green colors, but modern young people prefer simple and fashionable designs. Therefore, improvements are made to the patterns and colors, and the embroidery method of Miao embroidery is borrowed. Different colored raw materials are cut into the desired patterns, and then fixed on the embroidery fabric with silk thread. The works embroidered with this method are more modern and beautiful. The horse tail embroidery works exhibited at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Project Experience Center in Sandu Shui Autonomous County, Guizhou Province. At the Intangible Cultural Heritage Project Experience Center in Sandu Shui Autonomous County, there are not only traditional folk collectibles such as straps and embroidered shoes, but also simple and modern mounted embroidery pieces and fashion. Here, tourists can experience the production techniques of horsetail embroidery, making it a popular check-in spot for many tourists. The ancient technique of horsetail embroidery, which has been passed down for thousands of years, is also loved by overseas customers. In 2019, Yang Mei's company received an order for a French formal dress embroidered on real silk fabric, which posed a huge challenge for her accustomed to embroidering on stiff earth fabrics. After discussing and experimenting with the embroidery women, they placed the lining fabric under the silk. After repeated experimentation and exploration, they finally embroidered exquisite patterns on the real silk fabric. Afterwards, Yang Mei's company also took on some high-end custom orders from Europe, such as horse tail embroidered collars, formal dresses, and leather bags, thus starting the "high definition" path of horse tail embroidery. "We will send the aquatic script and ponytail embroidery patterns to overseas designers, who will integrate these elements based on the unique attributes of the product, target user groups, and current fashion trends to create a high-end clothing series that is both traditional and modern." Yang Mei introduced it. Currently, a French company is in talks about a customized project for a horsetail embroidered notebook. Wei Xiuxun, Chairman of the Women's Federation of Sandu Shui Autonomous County, introduced that Sandu has a wide variety of horse tail embroidery products, including horse tail embroidery+wax dyeing, horse tail embroidery+Miao embroidery, horse tail embroidery+Buyi ethnic cloth and other combinations. These products are not only loved by domestic consumers, but also exported to France, Dubai and other places. In Sandu Shui Autonomous County, the horse tail embroidery, which is quietly giving birth, has not only become the darling of the fashion industry, but also an important pillar of local rural revitalization. At present, there are more than 200 enterprises and individual businesses engaged in ethnic cultural operations such as horse tail embroidery and wax dyeing, with an annual output value of 40 million yuan, driving employment and income growth for more than 30000 people.
