It is reported that CUHK, CUHK (Shenzhen) and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology have recently signed a work plan to jointly invest nearly HKD 90 million to carry out deep scientific and technological cooperation, promoting innovative and technological development in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. This is the first time that Guangdong Province has jointly invested in scientific research cooperation with Hong Kong universities with campuses in both Guangdong and Hong Kong. The scope of cooperation includes: from 2024 to 2026, the three parties will form a seed funding pool in the form of "1+1+1" joint funding, supporting the two university teams to jointly carry out scientific research cooperation in the Greater Bay Area; Carry out innovation platform construction and actively explore the construction of Guangdong Hong Kong Macao joint laboratories in the advantageous areas of the two universities, led by the University of Hong Kong and China. The two schools actively participate in the Greater Bay Area Science Forum and explore hosting sub forums and related international academic conferences in Hong Kong; Undertaking the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Plan project, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology will open applications for provincial-level science and technology plan projects such as the Guangdong Province Key Field Research and Development Plan, Basic and Applied Basic Research Major Project, and Natural Science Foundation Project to the two universities. The two schools jointly carry out organized scientific research and institutionalized research to tackle major technical difficulties; To promote international cooperation in technology and talent, the two universities will share the university brand, jointly introduce and cultivate high-level scientific research teams to the world, and leverage their resource advantages to cultivate cutting-edge talents. To promote more extensive and in-depth scientific research cooperation between the teams of the two schools in the Greater Bay Area. On the 21st, the signing ceremony was held on the campus of CUHK.
